Gingersnap Sponsored by the TJ Newsletter

Good morning partner.  It’s Friday and time to take a break from rounding up horses.  Instead, we’re going to hang around for the Gingersnap Creation’s weekly challenge.  This week we are using the Faux Tooled Leather Technique from the Technique Junkie Newsletter because they are the generous sponsor for the week.

The Technique Junkie Newsletter is chalk full of techniques.  Bi-monthly issues come in full colour with directions for using the technique, and you have access to the on-line site that shows you step-by-step  tutorials.  If you prefer, you can subscribe to on-line issues only.  To purchase your subscription please visit here.

This week’s prize is the new Emboss or Die CD.  Us cowboys (and cowgirls) plan on playing with this CD this weekend, rather than riding our horses.  This CD is full of embossing and die cutting machine tutorials–79 of them to be exact.  What we like about this CD is the techniques are all in one place, which is perfect for when we travel to others who want to play with these techniques.

Well, it’s time to round up the horses.  I hope you enjoy the new Emboss or Die CD.

Thanks for taking the Time to be a real dad

Hi friends.  Did you have a nice Easter Weekend.  Here in Canada, government workers have Easter Monday off as a statutory holiday, and I am one of those lucky enough to have today off.

My card is for the Cards for Men challenge blog.  Their topic is circles and I used the Embellished Circles technique.  My stamps are a combination of Mark’s Finest Papers and Stampin’ Up.

Try That Technique: Folded Pocket Card

Hello stampers.  It’s Thursday and time for the Technique Junkie Newsletter’s Try That Technique Challenge.  I’m trying to get ahead of the game so I’m starting on my Christmas cards, and thought this would be an interesting style of card to make.

The technique this week is called the folded pocket card and is from Fancy Folds and Motion CD, a recent CD released by the Technique Junkie Newsletter.

Colour was sponged onto the background of my tag.  It’s a very easy thing to do.  Brown distress ink was added around the edges too.

I do apologize for my lack of posts.  Life has been very busy for me at the moment.  Hopefully it will settle down soon.

Have a happy Thursday.

Stamp:  Tim Holtz

Paper:  My Minds Eye

Deer Die Cut:  Christmas Cricut cartridge

Peek-A-Boo

Thank you for visiting me on this Thursday morning.  Are you in for a treat with the weather for the weekend?  Not sure what Sarnia is going to be like; I don’t usual pay attention to the forecast because it will be what it will be.  My winter clothes aren’t packed away just yet.

As you may know, Thursdays are set aside for Try That Technique, with the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  This week’s technique is the Dry Embossed Wash, from the December 2007 issue, as well as the new Emboss or Die CD.  The CD can be purchased by clicking the purchase button on my right hand bar, right at the top.

My cute little image is a Sweet and Sassy Stamps digital image and is called Peek-a-Boo Sophie.

Doesn’t the Dry Embossed Wash look, behind the Sweet and Sassy Stamps image,  look just like the paper from Mark’s Finest Papers?  The paper is from the 6″ x 6″ Prima Fairy pad.

Thank you for stopping bye.  Your visit is always appreciated.

Try That Technique: Scored Diamonds

Are you keeping out of the wind today?  This lovely Fashion Lady diva, from I Brake for Stamps, is trying to cope with the spring wind.  I live in a city, right off the lake, so we get what is called “lake effect.”  This is when I miss the Annapolis Valley, in Nova Scotia (Canada) with very little wind.  I pine away for the city of Halifax, and all their crazy coloured houses.  I miss those steep roads that I fearlessly drove  with my stick shift car.  I miss Mahone Bay, a quaint village.  Oh heck, I just miss the Maritimes.  Now that I am done crying my eyes out getting side-tracked, let’s talk about my card.

This Scored Diamonds technique was developed by Pat Huntoon herself.  Thanks Pat, for another wonderful technique.

Each week Diana Enns and I challenge each other to using a technique from one of our previous issues. of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  Scored Diamonds can be found in our April 2010 issue, and can also be found on our new Emboss or Die CD.  Know what I love about the crazy coloured houses in the Maritimes this CD?  All 79 embossing and cutting machine tutorials are in one place, which is perfect when I’m travelling or visiting a girlfriend.

To order your CD, click on the upper right of my side bar.  Costs include shipping, so that’s a great deal.  Another reason to purchase this CD.

Have a terrific Thursday.

Visit my tutorials on the above pages.  What’s your favourite?

Blended Blotches

Good morning.  Thank you for taking the time to visit Sunflowers and Dragonflies on April Fool’s day.  Have you been tricked yet, or are you tricking anyone?  So far I’m safe.

I’m not tricking you when I say that Blended Blotches is a fabulous new technique from the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  It is so fun to do and is a great way to add just enough texture without overdoing it.  I think this technique coordinates well with my stamp from Mark’s Finest Papers called Take the Time and Father’s Day.  I have a friend who makes and fixes clocks so this will be his birthday card this month.

This is just one of the many techniques in this month’s issue.

Thank you for stopping by, and enjoy your day.

Try That Technique & TJ March Madness Sale

Hello friends.  As I sit here typing this out, southern Ontario is in a deep freeze once again.  The icy rain took satellite out and I have no TV to watch.  One can only watch so many episodes of X-Files on DVD.  I have all 11 seasons (thanks to Donnie) and I’m almost finished season 2.  When I did spell check, can you believe “X-files” was a real word.  Pretty spooky I’d say.

Today’s card is for my weekly challenge with Diana Enns.  In turn, we invite the rest of the Technique Junkie Newsletter group join in on the fun.  We have regular participants, and it would be so nice to see new faces.  So, come on ladies, I know you are there and listening–LOL.

This week’s challenge is called Faux Shaving Cream and is one of the bonus techniques from the 2007 CD.
