Rubber Baby Buggy Bumper

Rubber Baby Buggy Bumper–say that ten times fast!

Hello there.  Hurray for Friday; I’m off for the day because I work the weekend.  I’m soon heading to work to drop off these cards for a lady who has a baby shower to attend tomorrow.  I thought I would bring Snow along with me where she will sit patiently in her pink dog purse while I visit my coworkers around the hospital.  Because of her size, Snow is always a big hit and brings lots of laughter to everyone.

This is the one I am quite fond of because of the colour combination.  When I showed Donnie, I said, “I love this one because of the colours.  I have no idea why these colours please me so much.”  Wasn’t I embarrased when he said, “doesn’t the colour combination remind you of something.”  It took me a while to clue in he meant it is the colour combination of our new kitchen and livingroom.  Isn’t it funny how we return to the same colours over and over again.  When I went out last night, my top and purse were this Tempting Turquoise colour.  To me, these are happy colours.

The cards were pieced together using Nestabilities and paper punches.

Which card is your favourite?

Designer Paper:  Colorbok; Cardstock:  Stamp’n Up White, Pretty in Pink; Certainly Celery; Tempting Turquoise; Card size is 6 x 6

April Showers Bring May Flowers and Kitchen Party Tonight

spring-flower-boquet

Happy Thursday.  My good friend, Beth, inspired me to start joining in on some challenges, so last week I participated in three.  This card was made for a Cuttlebug challenge.  The challenge was to emboss twice, which is a subtle effect because the second embossing smooshes the paper down, taking away some of the deep embossing from the first run through the Cuttlebug.

The flowers were coloured with watercolour pencil crayons and blended with water.  If you look closely you will see the shine from the Stickles that were added.  White dots were made with a stylis dipped into acrylic paint–a big thing with me now.

Enjoy your day!

Stamp:  Stamp’n Up; Ribbon from Hobby Lobby; Cardstock:  SU Chocolate Chip, pink unknown and white Hobby Lobby.

Tutorial Tuesday: Sending You Cupcakes and Hugs

odd-bird-planet_card-fold-tutorial_cupcake-stamp_9

Well, here we are at Tutorial Tuesday–a little late in the day.  Between e-mailing cyberfriends after work, uploading to galleries, running downstairs for a snack of pickled herring (it’s my mom’s fault–she always had it in the fridge growing up and I’m craving it today), I am finally sitting down to write out my tutorial.

Today I’m sending you cupcakes and hugs.  How so, you ask?  Well, there is a yummy cupcake with sparkles on the icing, and the narrow band of paper hugs the card closed.  So there you have it.  Cupcakes and hugs.  Scroll to the bottom to see other variations of this card.

Two colours of cardstock, one designer paper and a stamp to decorate your card.  The stamp I used here is from Odd Bird Planet.

odd-bird-planet_card-fold-tutorial_cupcake-stamp_2

One  4 1/4″ x 10″ cardstock (score at 2 1/2″ and 7 1/2″)

One 1 1/2″ x 11″ band

Two designer papers 2 1/4″ x 4″

After scoring at 2 1/2″ and 7 1/2″, adhere the decorative paper to the small areas which will be the front of the card when closed.

odd-bird-planet_card-fold-tutorial_cupcake-stamp_4

Lay the closed card on the band, and fold the band snuggly around the card.

Where the cardstock overlaps, secure with strong adhesive.

odd-bird-planet_card-fold-tutorial_cupcake-stamp_91

Adhere a decorated stamped image securely onto the overlapping hug–sorry, I mean paper.

This card has a Cuttlebug front rather than designer paper.  See below for embossing tip.

Insert the card front into the Cuttlebug folder and emboss.  Repeat again on the other flap.

I hope this gave you some inspiration to try your own variation.  Don’t forget to link me up when you have your card done.

This band has an added sentiment that says, “Bring on the Cupcakes.”  The designer paper was trimmed slightly smaller than the dimensions above, and was matted on green cardstock.

Have a great week!!

Stamps:  Odd Bird Planet; Cardstock:  Pixie Pink, Taken with Turquoise, Green Gable, Orchard Opulence and unknown deep purple and turquoise; Designer Paper:  Junkitz; White dots are placed with a stylus dipped in acrylic paint;

Easter Parade

odd-bird-planet_easter-parade

Happy Easter.

A local restaurant in Sarnia, Ontario was seen hosting an Odd Bird Planet Easter Egg dinner after the annual Easter parade.  Two hip chicks were seen sporting beautiful hatwear seen at the parade today.  For those on an egg-free diet, carrots have been made available in a variety of dishes.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

cuttlebug-challenge_easter-bunny-basket-and-card

This past week I have been visiting several sites for inspiration.   The Cuttlebug Challenge blog caught my eye when they had directions to make this little bunny.   The directions were very easy to follow, using a variety of punches.  I added arms to my bunny and used oval nestabilities.  I hope this inspired you as it did me.

BasicGrey Challenge 28

basic-grey-challenge-28_ketto-stamp_cuttlebug-challenge

Wow, two posts in one day.  Lucky you!  I’m posting my Saturday post early so I can get this card entered into the BasicGrey Challenge from last week. The challenge was to use this sketch.

basic-grey-sketch-for-challenge-28

For this card, I pulled out my new Stamping Bella Ketto Images.  Oh my, just take a peak–they are so adorable!  I pulled out my BasicGrey Urban Prairie paper and got busy.  Do you recognize Stamp’n Up’s Cool Caribbean?  It goes so well with the designer paper.

Have a nice weekend!

Happy Birthday

happy-birthday

Good morning.  Today’s card was made for a lady at work who asked me to make a birthday card for her sister and mother. She asked me to add loads of flowers.

Last week I took a variety of cards to work, and to my surprise they are selling like hotcakes.  I was tickled when one lady told me she bought my Stampavie skater card because it was her parent’s anniversary, and on their first date they went ice skating.  One never knows what is going to attract a buyer to a card.  I think this is the best reason yet!

Stamp:  Stamp’n Up; Sentiment:  Typed on Word; Image was watercoloured with watercolour pencil crayon.  Cardstock:  Stamp’n Up Rose Red and So Saffron; Rose Red was run through the Cuttlebug and machine stitched.  Scalloped ovals are Nestabilities.
