Everything You Wanted to Know About the Candy Cane
Have you read my blog post: Everything You Wanted to Know About the Candy Cane?
My post is full of information on the candy cane, and has a lot of links related to the candy cane.
Enjoy!

Upsy Daisy
Here we are at Tutorial Tuesday again. Because I am busy with holiday preparations, I put a quick tutorial together for you. A long time reader reminded me that my Stampin Up sets were collecting dust, and I agreed. So, you will be seeing more of them in the near future.
One of my favourite Stampin Up sets is Upsy Daisy, that you see here. There are so many ways to use this set, and today I will show you one way. I will show you how I created the sky background. Even if you don’t have this set, clouds can be used with so many stamps.
Using cardstock, or watercolour paper, draw a cloud and cut out.
Ink along the top of the cloud with a finger dauber or small sponge.
Continue to move the cloud around and sponge the top of the cloud with ink.
Once all the clouds have been inked, stamp out your image.
Using a stamp positioner, stamp out your sentiment.
Stamp: Stampin Up; Designer Paper, Stampin Up; Ink: Adirondack Pool
New tutorials every Tuesday.
Merry Christmas Darling
Merry Christmas Darling was inspired by so many things. Number one on my list was Donnie because I still didn’t have a card made for him. I even resorted to buying him one. This card will be given to Donnie on Christmas evening, once the dust has settled and everyone has gone.
Sweet and Sassy Stamps has a new sketch this week, and since the Technique Junkie Newsletter is this week’s sponsor, I was asked to play along. Here is the sketch if you want to play along.
The lime green, in my card, uses the Brayered Brilliance technique. It looks like designer paper, don’t you think? The pointsettia is a digital image from Sweet and Sassy Stamps. I had so much fun colouring it while watching a Christmas movie this afternoon. The designer paper I used on my card is from K&Co.
You may have noticed that I have been making cards with less ribbon. Surprisingly, you are telling me that you like my new style. It is a challenge to create one-layer cards, don’t you agree?
So, tell me. Do you prefer cards with ribbons, boxes and bows or do you like clean lines?

How are your holidays going? My tree was up in mid November and all presents were under the tree by the end of November. No Christmas rushing in the crowds for me. Do you have a favourite present that you found for your loved one? I think there will be happy faces in my household. What is your favourite purchase?
My card uses the Brick Wall technique from the recent issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. Pat Huntoon, the owner of the Technique Junkie Newsletter, said this was her favourite card in the batch I sent off to her for this recent issue.
I encourage you to subscribe to the newsletter because there are so many techniques in each issue. There are 8 full pages in every issue. Currently there is a Fancy Fold and Motion CD available for purchase and you can purchase it through Pat’s Blog. I love the CD and in the New Year you will find examples on my blog.

Creating Captivating Colour with Prismacolor Pencil Crayon and Blog Candy Sponsorship
Have you wondered how to create captivating colour with your Prismacolor pencil crayons? Today I will show you how to make the most of your Prismacolor pencil crayons. Why Prismacolor and not regular pencil crayons? Because Prismacolor pencil crayons blend with the use of Odorless Mineral Spirits. An Introduction to Prismacolor Pencil Crayons and an Overview of Prismacolor and Odorless Mineral Spirits are informative posts that expand on today’s post.
Today we have a sponsor for you. Sparkle Creations is an awesome new stamp company owned by Sparkle herself. Sparkle generously supplied us with Charlotte with a Rose, that you see in my tutorial. All you have to do is leave a comment and your name will be drawn next week. Cut off for this blog candy is Tuesday, December 21st.
Stamp out your image.
To ground your image, colour around your image. My first choice is Mediterranean Blue #PC1022.
With your blending stump and odorless mineral spirits, blend your pencil crayon around the image. Add skin colour (I use Light Peach #PC 927) and cheek colour (I use Pink #PC 929)
Select two colours on the colour wheel that coordinate. I picked purple blue and a soft pink. Blend main colour. In this step, adding colour instead of leaving a white highlight, is intriguing. Use your colour wheel to choose coordinating colours.
Look at the colour wheel to determine what third colour coordinates with your image. I choose to use green on my image.
After referring to the colour wheel, I selected yellow as my highlight colour for the bottom of the dress.
Colour the remainder of your image. Ground your image with brown, grey, or grass.

Beth’s Tips:
- Choose designer paper before colouring. Choosing DP first enhances the beauty of your card
- Colouring the outside of the image first prevents bleeding of colour onto the image
- Colour wheels assist in choosing eye-pleasing colours
- Deepen colours in the shadow areas. In my image it is under the arm and at the bottom of the leaf

A Piece of Cake for You
Who wouldn’t love a piece of yummy cake covered in icing. What a treat. My stamp comes from Stamping Bella’s Lulu collection. Stamping Bella is one of my favourite stamp companies. They are just so cute. Remember how they started out with those adorable stick figures. You go Emily!
It’s been a while since I played along with the Splitcoast Stampers sketches. I played along in this week’s Sketch Challenge. Below is the sketch.
A close up of my card, especially for my dear on-line friend Viv, from Great Britain. She is always asking for a close up view
Have a great day, and keep warm. I’m on my way to the kitchen to start my Christmas baking? Have you started? What’s your favourite baking? One of mine is pecan rolled pieces which I’m doing today.
Stamp: Stamping Bella; Designer Paper: Flowers by My Minds Eye and green paper is from BasicGrey; Flower Brads: Dollar Store; Flowers: Mulberry; Sparkle on Cake: Clear Stickles
Weekly Tutorial on Tuesdays. Stay tuned for a colouring with Prismacolor next week.
Technique Junkie Newsletter Faux Marble
Whew, isn’t that some weather we are getting. Florida is cold, and parts of Canada are getting slammed with snow. I can still see the grass where I live (albeit we do have a sprinkling of snow), London, a city one hour away, is considering a state of emergency. The snow they have is unbelievable.
My Santa Claus tags are appropriate for this time of year–both because it’s the Christmas season, and because the temperatures are cold and the snow is falling. Over my stamp, I heat embossed white snowflakes.
My tags are using the Faux Marble technique from the October 2009 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. As you know, Diana Enns and I challenge each other to create a card or project each week. This will be our last challenge until January 6th.
If you aren’t a subscriber, you might be interested in giving yourself an early Christmas present. Click here to find out details on Pat’s blog. Also, you will notice a Paypal button along Pat’s side bar where you can order your Fancy Folds and Motion CD. It’s a hot seller right now with over 60 tutorials. If you do subscribe, please let Pat know Beth sent you.
Thank you for stopping by. Keep warm
