Special Notice
This Canadian gal is currently in warm Atlanta, Georgia, visiting my mom and sisters. Oh am I having fun. I started to knit after a 22 year hiatus. I’m starting with a scarf and hope to finish it before my trip is done. I’m going to buy some verigated fun fur because their isn’t any in Sarnia, where I live, or Port Huron, Michigan, where I go shopping. Yes indeed, Georgia is up to date with what knitters want and need. My sister and her five children, and three dogs, will be here in two days. Talk about a busy household.
My next post will be on December 9th. I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things with my blog.
Happy Thanksgiving to the Americans, and Happy Holidays if you are reading this in December.
Thank you for your visit.
Try That Technique: Jenny’s Coat
Whoop, whoop, it’s Thursday–my favourite day of the week, as you know. This week’s Technique Junkie Newsletter Try That Technique is Jenny’s Coat from the December 2009 issue. Thank you Diana for playing along with me. Diana and I invite you to join in too.
As you can see, using two style of stamps really offers a unique look. My paper is from a 6″ x 6″ pad of BasicGrey paper. I love 6″ x 6″ paper because the images are scaled down which is perfect for us card makers.
If you are a Technique Junkie, submit your card to the Yahoo group for your chance at having your card on the Yahoo group home page for a week.
I will be away for two weeks, but the challenge will go on.
Weekly tutorials every Tuesday–what’s your favourite one?
How to Colour Outside Your Image
Hi stampers. Are you ready to learn how to colour outside your image? My tutorial comes about by way of a request, so thank you for that. You are full of ideas and I like to hear from you. In fact, everyone who leaves me a comment receives a response as a way of saying thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
My sweet little image is from Stamping Bella and is from the Tiddlyinks collection.
My tutorial requires Prismacolor pencil crayons.
Any colours will do, but for those of you who would like to use the colours I do, I will provide my Prismacolor colour names and numbers. Blue: Mediterranean Blue, PC1022; Dark Green: Dark Green, PC908; Light Green: Lime Green, PC1005. The printing on the pencil crayons are very difficult to read, so I did my best in reading them.
In a circular motion, colour around your image with blue. Why a circular motion? Because you are going to blend your colour in a circular motion. More further on.
With your tortillion well dipped into Odorless Mineral Spirits (OMS), rub the colored pencil and pull the colour out towards the edge of your paper. When rubbing your colour, pull it towards the edge of your paper and do not stop when you think the colour has run out or you might leave a noticeable line. Make sense?
To ground your image, run a line (in this case Lime Green) under the figure and blend in a back and forth motion.
To add grass, draw little sprigs like the large image to the right of the image.
Well, wasn’t that simple? Nice and quick too.
Beth’s Tips
- 100 lb/110lb paper from Staples or Business Depot works well for card fronts, and for colouring with Prismacolor and OMS
- Colouring around the image really adds pizazz. Try colouring around your image with yellow
- Colour the outside of your image in a circular motion because the blending will be in a circular motion. This provides a natural flow of colour
- Ground your images with ground. It can be green, gray, or any colour you wish. Grounding your image really finishes off your piece
- Pick out your papers before you start to colour and coordinate your colouring to the paper
- Add an unexpected pop of colour like I did with my yellow flowers

Bella Birthday
Is it Monday already? Wow, did your weekend go as quick as mine did? Got my Christmas tree up and all my Christmas decorations. This week I’ll finish up my shopping and will get everything wrapped and put under the tree. Christmas isn’t getting any closer you know!
Lucky for me, I had time on Sunday afternoon to create this card for you, using one of my new Lulu collection Stamping Bella stamps. Isn’t she yummy?! Designer paper is BasicGrey.
I used Iheart2stamp sketch for my card.
Have a great day!
You Make Me Smile All Over My Face
Happy Saturday. I hope you are settled into the weekend nicely.
There is always so much to do on our weekends off, eh?! I’m leaving to visit my family in Atlanta and I’m feverishly working on some goodies for everyone. On the odd day, I sleep with the left eye open, and on the even days, I sleep with the right eye open. That way everything gets done. Know what I mean?
Mom, this card is for you. You make me smile all over my face. I’m so excited that you bought my ticket to come and see you for the holidays. xoxo
What Christmas gifts are you making this year? I could use all the help I can get.
hugs,

Try That Technique: Hidden Image
Hello, can you believe it’s Thursday already? How is your week going? Boy, has ours been going with a bang. Literally.
The pilot light in the hot water tank went out and I asked to put it back on. With his face just inches away from the flame, a flash occurred, burning his hand. I stood behind him to watch how to turn the pilot light on should I need to. The lesson learned is to call the professionals in. It was the weirdest experience to go through this dangerous mishap. I don’t know what possessed Donnie and I to pull away when the flash occurred. I have no idea why his face wasn’t burned. The angels were certainly looking over us.

Anywho, here is my card for this week’s Technique Junkie Newsletter Try That Technique challenge. It is called Hidden Image and is a bonus technique from the 2010 CD.
Have a great day my friends.
