How To Make Clouds

Have you been telling yourself that you would like to make clouds, but were too intimidated?  Don’t be intimidated any more.  My tutorial will show you how to add panache to your card in a quick and easy manner.

My image is Bird House Shy Bear from I Brake for Stamps.  Clouds work for so many stamps no matter how simple, or detailed, your stamp is.

Supplies:  Stamp, ink, sponge, post-it notes (not in photo), cloud

Create a cloud shape on a stiff piece of cardstock, or watercolour paper and cut out.  My cloud is on watercolour paper because it can stand up to multiple projects.

Stamp out your image onto cardstock, and then again onto post-it notes.  Ensure your image is stamped along the top of the post-it note, so that the stickie part adheres to your image.

In my photo you will see two stamped images on post-it notes.  That is because my image is so large, the stamped image had to be split up.

Cut out the open areas on your post-it notes.  These will be used as masks.

Apply the post-it notes over your image.  You may choose to apply post-it notes around your image as I did.

Place your card onto your image.

Lightly sponge your ink around the top and sides of the clouds.  Repeat using light layers of ink.  Do not press too hard or you will move your mask.  There may be areas that are delicate, so just dab the ink on in a light pouncing manner where needed.

Sponge in the open areas

Remove the post-it notes.   Your image is now ready to be coloured.
