How to create a Remix of Inky Borders

Happy New Year!  Today I’m starting off the New Year with a quick and easy tutorial which is a spin-off of Inky Bands from the October 2012 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  Here I am using Kitty Duo and Love Harlequin which is a new release for January 2018.  New release stamps are on sale for 15% off until January 8th.  You don’t need a code.  My sentiment, A Good Friend, is not a new release, but if you use my code TJ10Beth, you can get it for 10% off.  Not only can you receive this stamp at 10% off but you can receive 10% off any other product minus clearance items.  Now that’s a deal.

Using Post-it Notes, cover the top third of your card, leaving approximately 2 inches of white space.

Start by sponging on your first colour of ink.

Sponge colour onto cardstock until all the white space is covered.

Stamp your decorative stamp over top of your sponged area.

Stamp out your silhouette stamp.  If you have a Misti now is the time to use it.  Ink and stamp out your image until you are happy with the results.  You want a nice dark image to cover your sponged area.  The Misti tool is a favourite of mine and I don’t know how I did without it.

Stamp out your (optional) sentiment.  A Misti gives the perfect placement.  I inked and stamped out my sentiment twice to achieve a crisp black image.

You are now ready to finish your card with matting and embellishments if you wish.
