Technique Junkies October New Release

Welcome to the Technique Junkies October New Release!  If you came from my ubber talented friend Judy Jackson then you’re on the right track.  Otherwise you might want to start at the beginning of the hop at our blog Design Junkies so you don’t miss a thing.  Keep on reading for a tutorial I made.

We have a new designer and I’m sure you know of her.  Our new artist is the talented Ms. Jan Tinklenberg who has a stamp line called Mitton State Stamps.  This lovely Wreath Sled is one of Jan’s fine designs.

From today until October 8th you can get the October release stamps at 15% off.  It automatically comes off your cart.  It’s that simple.  For any other products you are entitled to 10% off.  All you have to do is use my code TJ10Beth.

My next card uses a technique I personally developed for the June 2010 issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  This technique is called Faux Dominos and I am sharing a new tutorial with you.  Read on for it.  To see the original tutorial I shot you can see it here.

I coloured this wonderful Holiday Doodles stamp, which is a new release.

Next, I cut the image close to the half way point.

I cut the “dominoes” in 1″ pieces then I used a corner rounder to shape them into dominoes.  This step is optional.  You might like square dominoes better.

Using VersaMark I pressed the pad over top of the entire domino piece then sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat embossed the embossing powder.

To make the domino look thick, add pop dots on the back.  Now you’re ready to finish your card.

Your next visit is with the talented Lynda Pleckan.

Beth, these are fabulous! I remember the domino technique and love how you used this new stamp to show both the stamp and the technique off so well. The sled is gorgeous. I love the snowy look you achieved on the wreath.

pretty country feel of the sled with wreath. The faux domino’s are very cool, I like the use of the embossing powder on them!
