Steampunk or is it Altered Art?

How about some masculine cards today?  I love a little steampunk and altered art in my life.  My introduction to stamping was back in 1999, when I moved from Canada’s east coast, to central Canada.  I started making altered books where I found a love for the distressed and antique look.  Heavens, I’m all over the map with design, aren’t I!?

My cards started out as gold cardstock, from Stampn’ Up! and the rest  of the items were things I had lying around my studio.

I started by embossing the gold cardstock in my Big Shot (alas, my Cuttlebug has given out), and cutting and embossing miniature tags.  Then distressed the tags with SU Soft Suede and Early Espresso.

Next, I added bronze metallic gilding polish and black Stazon over the gold cardstock.  Over the drywall tape, I smudged on some waxy paste in green.  There isn’t a name on the packaging which was purchased back in 2000.  (how do I know when it was purchased?  It was one of my first major purchased for my new hobby)

As a child I collected stamps, and as I grew up I no longer wanted to stay with that hobby, so I took my book apart and kept the stamps, because I knew one day I would have a use for them in my art.  Cogs were found in the jewellery making section at Hobby Lobby.  They are perfect for gluing to flat surfaces.

Inspired!?  Get creative!

This is really fun! Part of the fun of papercraft is trying different styles, because it is affordable to do so with papers! I love your wonderful layered look.
