Christmas Baking and Cards

Hurray for Friday!  Having just worked the past two weekends, I get this weekend off, and guess what I’m going to do?  Christmas baking and cards.  Have you started yours yet?  Do you have baking or cooking traditions?  Every year I HAVE to make cherry balls, melting moments, decorated shortbreads, peanut brittle, and rice crispie balls.  Most go back to my childhood days.  Tell me what you like to bake and cook.

Stamp:  Shineshine Designs, The Stamp Barn; Designer Paper:  DCWV fat pack; Cardstock:  Green Gable; Image watercoloured with Tombow markers and painted with Twinkling H2O’s; Accessories:  Michael’s Ribbon; Martha Stewart punch; Flowers:  unknown source; White dots added with Sakura pen

Happy Holidays!

My mom, my sister and I are baking this Sunday as well. Sugar cookies always top the list! My mom has the best recipe for them! Oatmeal cookies, Peanut butter Kisses and Shortbread will follow. I just finished writing out my ‘store-bought’ Christmas cards yesterday. We’ll see if time allows to hand make a few.

Beth, I grew up making TONS of homemade cookies — all year round. Then I became a Mom and I had all of these great illusions of baking homemade cookies with my daughter. Then one day I realized that she thought baking cookies required a knife…(slice and bake). How I have failed her! At least we always bake cookies at my Mom’s house on Christmas Eve!

Love your card, what a darling image — you colored it beautifully and I love your layout!

Love this card. Your image is so beautifully colored.
I love to bake sugar cookies. When my kids were little they would help me cut out the different shapes. And then we would add frosting and sprinkles. Wonderful memories.. messy memories… but wonderful!! lol

What a beautiful card Beth! Your image is adorable and I love your colors!!!
I use to love baking cookies for Christmas, but now days I usually end up ordering cookies instead. I know it sounds sad, but I don’t have the time or the energy to sit and decorate like I use to years ago:)

Fantastic looking card. A lot of work must have went into making it.
