Dueling Darlings May Kit Challenge

This month it was Shelly’s turn to send the Dazzler’s a kit and she chose the theme Masculine/Motorcycles.  I am so pleased with how nice the papers all coordinate so well.  As someone who uses bright colours most of the time, these colours are a welcome change.  I am in love with plaid and used the plaid side rather than the backside.  It is always fun to see what the Dazzler’s and Diva’s do with their kits.  It’s amazing how different each card looks.

Card Supplies:

  • Motorcycle stamp, Artistic Outpost
  • Sentiment, unknown source
  • Ribbon, SU
  • Dew Drops
  • Designer paper – gray, Kaiserkraft
  • Designer paper – wood grain, Moxie
  • Designer paper – plaid, Reminince
  • Matt backing – SU Early Espresso (this is from my stash)

Thanks, Shelly, for the great kit!

Free Spirit

Hello there.  First, let me apologize for the poor lighting.  When I took a bunch of photos there was no sun for days.  Just rain.

I fell in love with this stamp called Free Spirit because it reminded me of my cousin, Terry Ann, who is a free spirit.  She has a business doing Reiki, Indi Head Massage, Massages, and card readings.

This stamp can be yours at 10% off simply by using my code TJ10Beth.  There are four stamps in this set which you can see here.

Have I told you how much I love my Misti?  It came in very handy when I “coloured” my stamp.  Using Tombow markers, I coloured my stamp in small sections and stamped out my image multiple times until I was satisfied with the darkness of colour.

My background was created by cutting multiple blue shades of cardstock, in an angular direction.  After gluing on my cardstock with Modge Podge, I trimmed the edges once it was dry.  Next, I ran my background through my Big Shot (yes, after 10 years my Cuttlebug bit the dust) using a wood grain embossing folder.

You’ll be seeing more of this stamp set, that’s for sure!

Thanks for stopping by!

Technique Junkies May 2019 Release

https://paperartscafe.blogspot.com/2019/05/technique-junkies-may-2019-new-release.html

Hello and welcome to the May Release for Technique Junkies.  I was so in love with these images that I completed four cards in two days, after I was done work at my day job.  First to business.  You can receive new releases at 15% off and if you use my code TJ10Beth you will receive 25% off of new releases.  This runs until May 8th, and once that is gone, you can use TJ10Beth for 10% off your order.  When the 15% discount ends, you can still catch a deal by using TJ10% for 10% off your entire order, excluding clearance items.

Now onto my cards.  Because I’m showcasing only four cards, it was hard for me to decide which four to showcase, so I started with my favourite called Live In Color.  I have a beautiful watercolour designer paper pad, which I used because it coordinated with the sentiment and my colouring.

My second card is perfect for upcoming Father’s Day.  I am making mine for an uncle who is so good to me, as my dad passed quite some time ago.  I love how my uncle is tickled by receiving my cards.  I used the newly released Golf Club Patent, and an older stamp called Happy Father’s Day. I stamped onto Kraft with VersaFine and highlighted with a white coloured pencil. Because the golf club are rounded, I rounded the corners of my card.

I wanted to make an elegant card because this lady looks so elegant.  By using gold, black and white papers, I believe I achieved a classy feel to my card.  This image is called Be a Legend.  I coloured the lady with Copic markers.

My last card was made using this month’s free stamp.  How can you get this free stamp, you ask?  Simply by placing a $30 order before taxes and shipping.  My free sentiment is called Wish Upon a Star.

Card Details:

  • Stamp Watercolor Flowers with VersaMark and gold embossing powder onto white tissue paper and heat emboss
  • Tear tissue and adhere with a light coat of Modge Podge
  • Using designer paper for the left side of your card, tear the edges to keep things cohesive with the torn tissue paper
  • Stamp out Wish Upon a Star sentiment in the right corner where there is no tissue paper
  • Cut out star with, or without a die, using sparkling paper or Shimmering Bliss Chestnut Mare
  • Place three gems under the sentiment

Pretty Pots

Hi folks!  I’m here with a CASE’d card from Ro Donner, a Technique Junkie design team member.  The minute I saw her card I knew I wanted to CASE it.  I was even going to use the same beautiful soft palate, but somehow the bright colours ended up in my hands.  I can’t help myself–I love bright and vibrant.  To see Ro’s card take a peak here.

Paired with Pretty Pots is In Full Bloom Sentiments.

If you are so inclined to place an order and want a 10% discount, you can use TJ10Beth and you will automatically get 10% off, excluding the clearance items.

This month’s free stamp are for orders of $30 before taxes and shipping.  Here is a sneak peak of the sentiment stamp.  The swirls are not part of the stamp, but you can purchase Swirls and Curls here.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see the new release for May.  It will also come with a free stamp with a $30 purchase.

Thanks for stopping by!

Magical Unicorn

Isn’t this unicorn just the cutest?  Since joining the Dueling Darlings team, my love for cutsey has struck me again.  I made this card for my step-granddaughter who is turning 9.  I wanted a lasting memory for her, so I created a canvas for her wall.

Fiesta time!

Hello fellow stampers.  Doesn’t this stamp make you feel like getting up and dancing like there’s no Manana?  Fiesta time!

Sponging ink is one of my favourite techniques, and here I used my Swirl Grid stencil from A Colorful Life Stencils to make my card look festive. Next, I coloured my Fiesta stamp with Tombow markers and spritzed lightly with water and stamped it out.  I can see giving this card to one of my dear friends when I’m at a social gathering in the summer complete with a pool and tiki hut.  Doesn’t that make you want to bring on summer?

Fiesta is a new release for April and you can use the discount code of TJ10Beth to receive 10% off these, and any other product from Technique Junkies, excluding clearance items.

I’m hoping this card brings spring and summer on quickly.  Frankly, I’m tired of gray skies and clearing my card of snow.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin’ Up! Saturday, Up Up and Away

Hello fellow stampers.  I hope you have a nice Easter weekend.  It’s going to be a busy one for me.  I worked today and came home to a family birthday.  I had so much fun putting together birthday presents for a step-granddaughter and step-daughter.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and I managed to take the day off of work to spend with family.  Al and I are making a big turkey dinner for my aunt, uncle and cousin.  Unfortunately my daughter lives 8 hours away and my son picked up a shift at work so it will be a small gathering.

I’ve been stamping a lot over the past couple of months.  Having this Stampin’ Up! set for quite some time, I decided to make a card for a variety of occasions.  I now tend to make 4 to 8 cards at a time because I already know the dimensions and have the dies/stamps out.  I stamped several sentiments on the inside–for congratulations, lifting me up, etc.  It is a very versatile stamp and die set.

I used River Rock paper and ink pad, and Real Red for the “Love.”

How are you spending Easter?  I’d love to hear from you.

Party On

Howdy folks!  Well spring is here, at the time of this writing, and it puts me in such a good mood.  I’m stamping more, and enjoying life to it’s fullest!  I think I can put the winter doldrums behind me.

Did you know you can receive a free stamp from Technique Junkies with a $30 purchase before taxes and shipping?  That’s right.  This is the adorable stamp that’s up for grabs this month.  Who doesn’t like to party by way of stamping?  I make my stamping time enjoyable with my music, or even Netflix.  Can you imagine that I watched the complete 6 season of Prison Break in less than a month?  I’ve moved onto true crime now.  Of course it helps that I work 3-11 every other week, and am showered and dressed by 6 a.m., leaving me 7 hours of stamping time before I head into work.

With any purchase, excluding clearance items, you can receive 10% off by using my code, TJ10Beth.

My swirly background uses TJ Swirls and Curls.

My butterflies and scallops are by Martha Stewart.

Paper colours I used are SU Crumb Cake and Marina Mist.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dueling Darlings

Hello fellow stampers!  I’m so very excited to shout out that I’m now part of the Dueling Darlings team on Splitcoaststampers, and this is my very first post with them.

This group consists of Dueling Dazzlers (me) and Dueling Divas.  Each team is mailed a kit with the same theme.  The Dazzlers have one kit, and the Divas have another.  I was so thrilled with this month’s theme of Outer Space.  Here, we used MFT Space Explorer and coordinating dies.  Our posts go live on the 15th of each month.

Thank you Terry for such a wonderful kit.

Rather than making a flat card, I made a Pop Up Box card.  I made this style of card because I wanted to create the feeling of outer space.

The following was used in in the kit:

  • MFT Space Explorer and dies
  • DSP, MME Blastoff, Echo Park Lost in Space, Photoplay Infinity & Beyond, Photoplay Intergalactic
  • Embellishments:  Hampton art action wobble, Recollections star brads, Recollections bling, Darice baker’s twine

The most fun of belonging to this wonderful team is that we get to hop along to see how other’s used their kit.

Thanks for stopping by!
