O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave

Hello there!  I’m really in love with Grunge Flag.  Did you see my Grunge Flag tutorial on how to create faux burnt edges?

I stamped out my image onto my card front, and then stamped Wildflower Silhouettes. My inspiration was drawn from a drive I took years ago with my sister, while I was visiting her in the United States (I’m Canadian).  We saw an old barn sitting in a field with the American flag painted on the entire side of the barn and wild flowers were growing all around.  It was so beautiful, we got out of the car to take a photo of it, and along the way my sister painted the scene with oil paints.

You can get these stamps for 10% off by using code TJ10Beth.  The remainder of your shopping cart will also be applied to the rest of your shopping cart.  Happy shopping!

Wonderful Life

Hi there fellow stampers!  Today I am using a new release from Technique Junkies new release.  My background was handmade using Distress Inks.  I thought it would be a fun idea to use Floral Frame Square, with gold embossing powder.  Look how rich a feel it has to it.  Around the image, I added gold stars.  They look silver on the top right, but you can’t tell because of the camera flash.  Some day I’d like to get a nice camera box.

Feel free to use my code TJ10Beth for 10% off of this stamp and your shopping cart.

Did you have a nice Mother’s Day weekend?  Al treated me to a special take out dinner.  Here in Ontario, our restaurants are closed and it is only pick up or curbside delivery due to COVID.

Of course I had a face plant on my walk this past weekend.  Last year it was my ankle and ended up being in a boot cast for the summer, and this year it was a face plant.  In analyzing what had happened to me and in listening to my girlfriend say her mom had issues with her knee just giving out, I believe that’s what happened to me.  My knee has just given out several times before; I just never put much thought into it.  I was with my cousin and she said one minute I was up and the next I fell flat onto my face (it was even pavement).  Not having time to put out my hands, I’m not as beat up on the outside as I am on the inside.  My muscles are in excruciating pain.  My tooth that sticks out a little hit the pavement, and by the grace of God, it didn’t become loose.  There is no explanation for my tooth not being knocked out.   Because the weather is nice all week, I will be walking before my afternoon shift, but at a leisure walk and not in a fast pace any more.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to take a peak at one of my videos.

Plant Smiles

Hello there.  I hope you enjoyed our new release that went live on Saturday.  I like to get a head start, so as I wait for June’s stamps to arrive (to make samples for you), I am already creating folds and such so I am prepared for stamping.

May release stamps are 15% off until May 8th.  Use my code TJ10Beth for a 10% discount on the rest of your shopping cart items.

I’ve been walking regularly at a local park, to hold diabetes at bay and for the exercise.  I lost 30 pounds since January 1st, using the Weight Watcher app, which I love.  It’s so easy to figure out points by scanning a bar code with my phone.  Another bonus to using the App, I can juggle my meals around to fit my points in.

Pinterest is a good source for finding card folds.  This particular card fold has intrigued me for years, but I never did it because it intimidated me.  Once I followed along with the tutorial, I found it quick easy.  I tried to find a link for you for the instructions, but I can’t locate the site where I saw it–LOL.

This new Technique Junkies stamp is called Plant Smiles.  I can never get enough of this style of stamp because I always find it interesting in how the sentiment looks after adding multiple colours.  To do this, simply place your stamp/cardstock into your Misti, or other tool, and colour each word and image in a different colour with watercolour markers.  Do this in small sections and repeat your colouring until the image is nice and crisp.  Once again, I used my handmade flowers to decorate the front of the card.

A close up of my handmade flowers.  Have you noticed that I’ve been including these into my cards lately?  I’m so in love with sitting in front of Netflix (currently watching Longmire) and working away creating them.

Technique Junkies May Release & Video

How can it be May already?  One of the exciting things about the start to another month is the new releases from Technique Junkies.  Today’s card uses Grunge Flag and Home of the Brave. New Releases are automatically discounted 15%, and if you use code TJ10Beth, you receive 10% off the remainder of your cart.  For more inspiration please scroll down to links to Design Team members.

Today’s video shows you how to create burnt edges. It is a very early technique from the Technique Junkies Newsletter.  How many of you still have all your copies of the Newsletter?  I have all of the issues in one super wide 3-ring binder.  I spend a lot of time looking over those issues.

Stamps used in today’s video are Grunge Flag and Home of the Brave

Chicken Anyone?

Hello you!  Thanks for stopping by.  Here in Ontario we are still under a province-wide STAY AT HOME order.   In case you’re interested here is a link of what we can and cannot do.  That said, I have much more time for stamping, blogging and design team work, all while going to work every day (I work full time at the local hospital).   The weather is nice so I’m able to sit outside to read and to go walk at a local park either by myself or with my husband.

Farm Fresh is a new Technique Junkies release this month, and is easily used for so many cards.  Here I used Keep Chickens which I coloured in rich and bold colours.  My examples include a full sized slimline card and an A2 card.  I kept it simple, which I find very hard to do.

I hope you have a great week ahead of you.  This upcoming Saturday is another new release for Technique Junkies.  Don’t forget to visit my blog, and my fellow DT members for lots of inspiration. I will have a video ready to go live on May 1st.

Using a Two Layer Stencil Video

Hi folks!  The flowers are in bloom, and trees are in bud.  Ahh–the smell of spring.  But wait, spring?  Then why show an autumn card!?  Well, I’ll tell ya.  I wanted to use A Colorful Life Designs Layered Simple Trees, set of 2 stencil, and floral moose together, and autumn leaves are in keeping with moose habitat.  Layered Simple Trees, set of two stencil, Floral Moose and my sentiment, Things I want to do, are from Technique Junkies.  I have a fun video showing how to use three colours on a two-layer stencil to make the trees pop, so please scroll down to view my video.  Use my code TJ10Beth for 10% off your shopping cart.

In the Garden

Ahh, the smell of spring in the air.  Love it.  Today’s card showcases Technique Junkies Grunge Flowers and In the Garden stamps. I can’t get enough of making handmade flowers, and added three of them, along with the handmade leaves, to my card.  Take 10% off your order with my code below.

  1.  Heat emboss Grunge Flowers with clear embossing powder and heat set.
  2. Spray background with Shimmering Bliss.  I used Thulian Pink.  Let air dry (or to speed things up you can use a heat gun).
  3. Stamp out a sentiment from In the Garden.
  4. Embellish and matt your card front.  Here I used my handmade flowers.

Grow With Love

Hello friends!  Do you see buds popping out where you live?  We are starting to see the signs of spring.  Currently in an apartment, I used to spend countless hours in the gardens and there was a lot of love from me because my gardens were always in bloom.  I had a tiger lilly and shasta daisy garden along the side of my house.  In the front there was a blue/purple/white garden, wildflower garden, and a red/gold garden.  Do you have gardens?  If you do, what is your favourite part of it?

Today’s card is perfect for spring.  Fresh green and pink colours were used to create my 3-D card.  The background paper is not designer paper.  It is a background stamp called Garden Party, which was coloured with pencil crayons.  Grow with Love focal point was placed into my Misti (what tool do you use?) and each word on my stamp was watercoloured with watercolour markers.  I huffed on the colour to reactivate the colour, and pressed down, repeating the process two or three times more.

Added to this card is one of my handmade flowers and leaves.

Have a great week, and stay safe.

Technique Junkies New Release and Sale

Hello friends.  Do you like new stamps?  Do you like new releases?  Well, this is the time because April release is now live and boy are you in for a treat!  No April’s fools.  You might want to start at the beginning at Technique Junkies.

For those of you who are new, new release day means that you can purchase the newly released stamps at 15% off automatically until April 8th. If you use code TJ10Beth you get an additional 10% off everything else in your cart.   My code TJ10Beth is good throughout the rest of the month.  For more inspiration please visit the TJ Design Team’s blogs which are listed below with a direct link.

My first card is 3D and uses Where Flowers Bloom.  I placed this stamp into my Misty, and used watercolour markers (ie. Tombow, SU), and coloured one word at a time, huffing every time before pressing down the ink.  I love these types of stamps, just for using this method.

My second card uses Grow With Love.  Using a stencil, I lightly blended a variety of colours, then I took my coordinating marker and outlined areas on my stencil.  You can see my How To Add Depth to Your Stencils video just with a click of a button on the title of the YouTube video.

Before you scroll down for more inspiration from the Design Team let me tell you about the I Got To Have it All bundle.  Save $26.45 for the entire new April Release.  You can buy it here.
