In the Garden

Ahh, the smell of spring in the air.  Love it.  Today’s card showcases Technique Junkies Grunge Flowers and In the Garden stamps. I can’t get enough of making handmade flowers, and added three of them, along with the handmade leaves, to my card.  Take 10% off your order with my code below.

  1.  Heat emboss Grunge Flowers with clear embossing powder and heat set.
  2. Spray background with Shimmering Bliss.  I used Thulian Pink.  Let air dry (or to speed things up you can use a heat gun).
  3. Stamp out a sentiment from In the Garden.
  4. Embellish and matt your card front.  Here I used my handmade flowers.

Grow With Love

Hello friends!  Do you see buds popping out where you live?  We are starting to see the signs of spring.  Currently in an apartment, I used to spend countless hours in the gardens and there was a lot of love from me because my gardens were always in bloom.  I had a tiger lilly and shasta daisy garden along the side of my house.  In the front there was a blue/purple/white garden, wildflower garden, and a red/gold garden.  Do you have gardens?  If you do, what is your favourite part of it?

Today’s card is perfect for spring.  Fresh green and pink colours were used to create my 3-D card.  The background paper is not designer paper.  It is a background stamp called Garden Party, which was coloured with pencil crayons.  Grow with Love focal point was placed into my Misti (what tool do you use?) and each word on my stamp was watercoloured with watercolour markers.  I huffed on the colour to reactivate the colour, and pressed down, repeating the process two or three times more.

Added to this card is one of my handmade flowers and leaves.

Have a great week, and stay safe.

Technique Junkies New Release and Sale

Hello friends.  Do you like new stamps?  Do you like new releases?  Well, this is the time because April release is now live and boy are you in for a treat!  No April’s fools.  You might want to start at the beginning at Technique Junkies.

For those of you who are new, new release day means that you can purchase the newly released stamps at 15% off automatically until April 8th. If you use code TJ10Beth you get an additional 10% off everything else in your cart.   My code TJ10Beth is good throughout the rest of the month.  For more inspiration please visit the TJ Design Team’s blogs which are listed below with a direct link.

My first card is 3D and uses Where Flowers Bloom.  I placed this stamp into my Misty, and used watercolour markers (ie. Tombow, SU), and coloured one word at a time, huffing every time before pressing down the ink.  I love these types of stamps, just for using this method.

My second card uses Grow With Love.  Using a stencil, I lightly blended a variety of colours, then I took my coordinating marker and outlined areas on my stencil.  You can see my How To Add Depth to Your Stencils video just with a click of a button on the title of the YouTube video.

Before you scroll down for more inspiration from the Design Team let me tell you about the I Got To Have it All bundle.  Save $26.45 for the entire new April Release.  You can buy it here.

Beautiful Friend

Stampin Up has been releasing some sets that I adore, and Friends are Like Seashells is one of those sets.  As a lover of the ocean I was drawn in by the seashells, and when I read these beautiful sentiments I knew I had to buy this set immediately.  Friends are Like Seashells is in the mini catalogue and won’t be around long.  Although, if I had to hazard a guess, I’d say these just might be available in the annual catalogue coming in spring because this set is so popular.  I also bought the coordinating embossing folder.

My card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.  What did we do without Pinterest?  It wasn’t long ago my friend had to tell me how to work my way around it.  For the longest time I never jumped on board thinking it was just another thing on my plate.  Little did I know that one goes down the rabbit hole very easily because there are so many visual pleasing things to see.  What I really need to learn is to make subfolders.  Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for stopping by today.  You made my day!

Better With Wine

Hello friends!  I hope you like getting inky because today’s card is all about ink blending.  Using Rich Razzelberry and distress oxide festive berries, I blended the two colours so that there would be spots of dark and light.  After it dried completely, I embossed Dotted Blooms in white and Better with Wine.

Distress oxides in tumbled glass and peacock feathers were used to create my background.  Curved dies were used to cut the upper and lower edging.

How are you enjoying spring?  It came so early this year.  Normally Sarnia is in snow, and it isn’t unheard of having a snow storm at this time of year, but this year it is 18 degrees C today.  What a beautiful day for a walk.  It feels so good to be out of a winter coat.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day and get creative.

Hugs, Kisses and Love

Hello friends!  This card was inspired by a card made by Stesha Bloodhart of Stampin Hoot.  She provided a tutorial which I changed up a little bit.  This was Al’s Valentine card which I could not post beforehand because Al reads my blog.

I stamped out SU Buffalo Plaid onto Peacock cardstock.  Using Pinkfresh dies, I cut out three words to fit the card front.  I really liked these dies when I first saw Jennifer McGuire use them in one of her videos.  Isn’t she an enabler? LOL.

Al bought me beautiful red roses for Valentine’s.  It was a very pleasant surprise because he’s not the flower kind of man.  I hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day too!

Spread your wings and fly!

I lucked out when I found this SU Little Ladybug for sale on line.  It was a hostess set that I thought I’d never get.  It was a lucky score.

When I worked in a doctor’s office in Nova Scotia I worked with Sharon who did transcription and billing along side myself.  We kept in touch when I moved back to Ontario and I was so happy for her when she told me she was going through to become a nurse.  Sharon just retired so I wanted to send her a card.  I thought this stamp set would be perfect for her.

Three years ago, I took Al out east and showed him where I used to live on Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.  We even met up with Sharon and her husband and had the best lobster mac n cheese in Hall’s Harbour.  We planned on going back out east this summer, but with COVID we decided to see what next summer brings.

Do you have a lucky score story to share?
