Merry & Bright

Hi there folks!  There is still time to get the newly released Technique Junkies October stamps at 25% off.  Use my code TJ10Beth and get 10% off everything else!

I was born in the 60’s.  Is that why I love retro so much?  This fun ornament stamp is called Retro Ornaments Background.  Merry & Bright came from Victorian Greetings, set of 6.

Steps to Making Card

  • Cut turquoise card to size 4″ x 5 1/4″ and copper mat at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Take a dark colour of ink, such as a deeper turquoise and blend edges, leaving the centre light (original colour of cardstock).  Let dry completely before the next step.
  • Rub embossing buddy generously over the entire cardstock.
  • Heat emboss using gold embossing powder
  • Add a banner with sentiment using the same colour as the mat.  Here it is a copper.
  • Whalaa.  You’re done!

Merry Christmas from England

Hello there.  This beautiful embroidered card was made by my penpal/girlfriend for Christmas.  Isn’t it exquisite?  I have it sitting beside me on my basket storage unit.

Lynn and I became penpals at age 13, and here at 58 we are dear friends.  After writing back and forth for 13 years, Lynn came out to visit me when I lived on Prince Edward Island (Canada), then again on my move to Nova Scotia, then again three times here in Ontario.  Back in April 2015, I went to visit Lynn.  Plans were in the works for Al and I to go to England next summer, but due to Covid, we had to reschedule.

It is uncanny just how much we have in common, besides being the same age.  We love cross-stitching, card-making, same style of clothing, reading (both avid readers), and being in the same line of work (although I changed paths eight years ago).

Pretty cool, eh?!

Have a great Boxing Day for my fellow Canadians.

Merry Christmas

Using my favourite stamp of 2020, this Woodland Wonders is a terrific stamp for Christmas, Birthday, and other masculine cards.  The coordinating envelope uses Santa Mail  The circular stamp on my card is also from Santa Mail, set of 2.   My card was a hit with Al.  For a look into the inside of my card, please scroll down.

  1. Heat emboss Woodland Wonders with white embossing powder.
  2. Use Diagonal Stripes Cutting Plate, or leave the background in one piece.
  3. Using a die cut, cut out “Merry” and glue onto the front of the card
  4. Heat Emboss with black embossing powder on red cardstock, using Santa Mail, set of 2.
  5. Punch out the circular image, or use a circular die cut.
  6. Die Cut greenery and glue the tips of the die cut and place under image, which was pop dotted.
  7. Using a sentiment from Poinsettia, set of 4, I stamped out my sentiment for the inside, and used die cuts/punch for added fun.

Have a wonderful day, and stay safe!

Hi there folks!  Way way back when Odd Bird Planet was in business, and I was on their Design Team, I created this Christmas card.  I’m a hoarder of cards because they are hard to part with.  I’m curious if you are too.

Since my granddaughter was 3 1/2, I started sending her cards, and now she’s almost 4.  I thought this card would make her laugh.  I’m having so much fun  sending her cards.  I always ask her about daycare.  Her mom, Sarah (and my daughter), took a video of her opening her card.  She was adimat that she was going to read it and this is what she said, “hello Grandma Beth.  Do you like your daycare.”  I got a chuckle out of that.  I wonder if she got a chuckle out of santa driving a train.

Have a great day!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Hello friends, and fellow stampers!

Everyone dreams of a white Christmas, don’t they?  Even I do.  But let me tell ya something folks!  Snow is romanticized in our heads and in movies.  People think there is something charming about snow.  Don’t forget about us having to shovel out our driveways at 6:00 in the morning just to get to work.  Heck, when I lived on Prince Edward Island, winters were “shoveling to get out in the morning” and “shoveling just to get back into the driveway after work.”

Young people love the snow.  I remember being in my 20’s and walking to church and saying hello to a lady as I entered the church.  I was feeling giddy with the pretty falling snow, and said to the lady leaving the church, “don’t you just love it?”  Her response was a clear “no.”  She added, “you won’t like it when you get to be my age.”  At that time I thought, “right.”  Well folks, I’m in my late 50’s and could do without snow for five months of the year.  I’d like to have snow for two months.

I’m no scrooge when it comes time for the Christmas holidays, and even I love to make cards with snow on them.  I love to romanticize while I’m creating Christmas cards, and I’m sure you do too.

I am so happy that Technique Junkies came out with some new Christmas sentiments.  I don’t have a large collection of Christmas sentiments so this Oh Christmas Treee, set of 4 fits the bill.

Thanks for stopping by.

Looking around for a fun technique?  I can help you out.  I have over 200 photo step-by-step videos and YouTube videos, right here on my blog

Oh Christmas Tree

Hello fellow stampers, and friends!  Yes, I managed to create a Clean and Simple card.  It was a happy accident because I struggle so very much with CAS designs.  I am envious of the artists who can pull it off time-and-time again.

Here I pulled out, for the first time, a lovely Christmas Tree and sentiment from Technique Junkies new Christmas sentiments release called Oh Christmas Tree, set of 4.

Would you believe I have started listening to Christmas music already?  Yup, I’m one of “Those” people.

Thanks for stopping by!

Don’t forget.  I have close to 200 tutorials that I did in photo step-by-step and videos.  Please find at the top of this page

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Olaa!  Technique Junkies has a brand new Christmas sentiment set called Oh Christmas Tree, Set of 4.  The sentiment here has been highlighted with die cuts, designer paper, and black cardstock.  Nothing says traditional Christmas more than these colours, which are so popular this year.  I even own a pair of leggings in the pattern of my designer paper.

I made a set of cards using sentiments from this set, and are going to be the perfect gift for an upcoming birthday.   A set of Christmas cards gives a personal touch that everyone loves.  I love to receive cards.

Have a great weekend!

Holy Night Silent Night

Wow, what an awesome release, eh? (sorry, I’m Canadian and say “eh” all the time).  I hope you had the chance to view the new release work from the Design Team.  My dimensional card uses Holy Night Silent Night to signify a very important event in the village of Bethlehem, of which was added using die cuts.

Using pale blue cardstock, I blended three colours of blue ink onto the cardstock; leaving the ink to air dry over night  (as I made multiples of this card), then added Bethlehem dies.  Once they were in place, I added Holy Night Silent Night with white embossing powder.
