Dueling Darlings May 15th Kit – Bargain Hunters

Hello folks!  It’s the 15th of the month, and time to work with our kits that were received from the hostess of the month.  The Dazzlers (me) is hosted by Jeanette, and The Divas is hosted by Kelly.  This’s month’s awesome theme is BARGAIN HUNTERS.  The idea is to include items in the kits that are from clearance or second hand.  I thought this is a very fun theme.  There was so much in my kit, but I pared it down to only using a few items because I was dying to try out this style of card, and I felt that the image was perfect for this style.

The cardstock is from my stash, and the patterned paper is from the kit.  Jeanette, who is my hostess this month, says she’s a collector of patterned paper.  I love patterned paper too, but tend to create my own backgrounds.  Pretty paper gives a card that extra punch of joy.

Whalaa.  Finally made it to the image.  Don’t forget to see what the rest of the Dazzlers and Divas have done with their kits.  Thanks for stopping by!

Dueling Darlings April Kit – Bluebonnets

It’s the 15th of the month and that means the Dazzlers and Divas are dueling again.  This month Debby (Dazzlers) and Suzy (Divas) are the hosts this month.  It’s spring in Texas and that means the bluebonnets are blooming–the highways are lined in blue and soon all the other wild flowers will be blooming too.  Good choice ladies, because nothing is blooming in southern Ontario yet.

Parts of my kit that I used includes the following:

Stamps:  Deadbeat Designs

Ink:  Color Box Pigment ink in Royal Blue

Designer Paper:  Paper Studio

Ribbon:  Offray-off white

Blue Gems:  Parklane

Let’s see what the rest of the Dueling Darlings have for us:

Dueling Darlings – What Makes you Happy – Coffee

What makes you happy?  This is the inspiration for the Dueling Darlings Duel this month.  The two hosts:  Terry L for the Dazzlers and Tami for the Divas, took the inspiration from the fact that March 10th is the International Day of Happiness.  They brainstormed about what makes people happy.  The answer was COFFEE.

Each “team” receives the same kit from their host and the duel is to see what everyone from the two teams come up with, using their kit.

Because I love coffee, I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge.

What makes me happy:  Uninterrupted time in my studio

Dueling Darlings – Let Me Call you Sweetheart

Hello folks!  I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day.   My sweet husband received this card that I made from the Dueling Darlings kit that I received from Shelly, who hosted this month’s kit for the Dazzlers.  Carol hosted for the Divas.  Shelly and Carol called this month’s challenge “Let Me Call you Sweetheart.”

The Dazzlers and the Divas are each given a kit from the host of the month, and we are to post our cards to our blogs on the 15th of the month and travel to each other’s blogs to see what each other has done with their kit.  Make sense?

Can you tell I had fun with my kit?  There was so much goodness all over my desk,  I decided to create a card that would use most of what I received.

The only thing I used, that wasn’t in the kit, was Bazzil’s red cardstock used on my layered background.

Thank you, Shelly, for hosting an awesome challenge.

Dueling Darlings – Penguins

Hi folks!

It’s the 15th of the month, and the Dueling Darlings are having a duel using this month’s theme, “penguins.”  Terry S, from the Dazzlers (I’m part of the Dazzlers team), and Laurajean (LJ) gave us all the supplies we needed to complete a card or two.  I think my penguin is enjoying the sunshine on a snowy day.

I missed putting on 3D embellishments because I didn’t see them neatly in an envelope until I typed this out yesterday.  Ugh!

My image was coloured with Prismacolor colored pencils and blended with odorless mineral spirits.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dueling Darlings – DDD – Owls

Hi folks!  It’s the 15th of the month, and time for a friendly duel between the Dazzlers (me) and Divas.  I am host for this month’s duel challenge, and Heather is the host for the Divas.  The theme we chose for this month is “owls.”  Not a surprise to many of you because I love owls.

I chose to make a side step card.  Everything you see here was included in the kit I sent to each Dazzler member.

My Hero Arts owl was coloured with Prismacolor coloured pencils.  Sentiments come from Technique Junkies Get 10% off Technique Junkies stamps by using code TJ10Beth.

This made a wonderful card for a granddaughter who celebrated her birthday.

DDD August Kit – Humor

It’s the 15th of the month and that means the Dueling Dazzlers and Divas post our cards that we made with the kit provided to us.  This month the Dazzlers received our kit from Jeanette and the Divas received their kits from Kelly.  As always, it is super fun to see what everyone did with their kit.

My image came to me on a white background and I added the clouds with my handmade cloud and SU Pacific Point.  I used a curvy die to show movement of the rollercoaster.  I cut my sentiment out in a circle and sponged colour around the edges.

What a fun image, eh?!

My kit includes the following:

Image and Sentiment:  Taylored Expressions Adventure Land stamp set

Designer Paper unknown source

Ribbon Celebrate it

Buttons and pearls unknown source

DDD Christmas in July

Hello folks!  For those who follow me, you know that on the 15th of the month I post a card that I made with a kit from the Dueling Darlings.  There are two teams:  the Divas, and the Darlings (me).  The two teams are sent different kits and it is a duel to see how each kit is used.  It is a lot of fun that’s for sure.  Being part of this group certainly pushes me to the max to see what I can come up with.

This month I did paper tole.  Remember how it used to be the rage?

If you look very close, you will see the top layer of my card has been cut out and using pop dots, I adhered the top to the background.

Another fun challenge!

DDD June Kit Challenge

Hello there.  Thanks for popping in today.

Today’s card was inspired by a kit from Terry L. from the Dueling Darlings group in which I am a member.  Tami (Divas) and Terry L (Dazzlers) decided to use “what we have” to create a kit with “Halloween” being the theme.

By now you know I love to make 3-D cards, and this kit lends itself to doing just that.  This is called the Bendi card, and everything, except the tree die, was in the kit.

For a tutorial on the Bendi card, please see here.

Images were coloured with copic markers.  Background was sponged with black and Pumpkin Pie.

The following are the products I used from the kit sent to me:

Images and sentiment:  My Favorite Things “Witch Way is the Candy?”

Papers:  The Paper Studio

Enamel dots:  The Paper Studio

Die cuts:  A Muse fence, spider web and bats.
