Hi friends.  Today I have some mixed media for you.  Recently, I attended a paper craft show and this was one of the projects that we completed.  I was so excited with the colour combination we were given to use as it fits my decor.  It’s a small canvas that I have sitting on a bookcase in my livingroom.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Happy Birthday to my Fisherman

Happy Birthday to my partner, Al.  He loves to fish and he fell in love with this style of card when we were in a scrapbook store, so I gathered all the confidence I could find and tackled this Pop-Up Box Card, which turned out to be easier than I thought.  You can find directions with a video on Splitcoaststampers.

I thought that seagulls would be a perfect touch so I used Jolee’s by You seagulls.

The green envelope underneath my card is 6 x 9 because the Seagull stuck out so much.  The quality and quick service of my envelopes from were terrific.  They have such a large selection of colours and sizes. also carries a tremendous variety of cardstock as well.  And, if you buy right now, they have free shipping if you spend $50 or more.

My stamps are from Rubbernecker. I hate to say it, but my designer paper is over six years old so I don’t have a supply list for you.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Hi Folks! I was inspired to make six snowmen from something I saw on Pinterest.  The snowmen on Pinterest used a die, where I hand drew my snowmen, scarf and arms.  I used an SU button die and a star die on the scarf and one on the body that is nice and glittery.  I stamped my snowman with Vintage Music from Technique Junkies.  I distressed the edges with brown ink and painted the eyes and nose with acrylic paint.

Christmas will soon be upon us.  May your house be filled with Christmas spirit and lots of joy with family and friends.

Thanks for stopping by.

Felt Owls

Hello folks!  Today I am showing you an old hobby I picked up again.  In my early 20’s I loved to work with felt and embroidery.  Well, I rediscovered felt when I stumbled upon these cute owls at Gingermelon Dolls.  I’m wild over owls and have quite a collection, and now I have enough for my Christmas tree.  I said to myself, “Why stop at making one.  Why not make 20.”  So, that’s what I did.

As you can see, they are all stitched by hand with one strand of embroidery thread.  They are stuffed with Lavender and stuffing, and have loops sewed onto them so they can hang on my Christmas tree.

For your free pattern you can visit Gingermelon Dolls here.  Please note that Gingermelon Dolls has an Etsy shop which sells the eyes and high quality felt.

I like her service (it was delivered to me in a very quick manner), and love her patterns.  Currently, I’m working on her gingerbread houses and Christmas trees.

Let me know if you make owls of your own.  I’d love to see them.

Thanks for stopping by.

Van Gogh’s Starry Night

Sunflowers and Dragonflies, Van Gogh's Starry Night

I recently attended a painting class with Bev Fish, of Fishtale Studio, and we created our own rendition of Starry Night, with Bev’s help.  After the class, I went right out and bought paints and four canvases so I can paint four more.  You know me, I like to mass produce my cards, and now I’m mass producing my paintings.  LOL.

Have a very nice weekend.

Mixed Media Canvas Art

Sunflowers and Dragonflies canvas 2

Hi folks.  One thing you don’t know about me is that I am a hermit.  My anxiety keeps me from socializing and getting out, but that’s a changing.  I’m trying to push myself to new levels by reading self help books and getting out there.

I signed up for a mixed media class where I only knew the instructor, and nearly backed out, but I’m so glad I didn’t.  I reconnected with a lady who I knew through a scrapbook store by taking card making classes and hope we can get together to make cards.  It turned out I had the time of my life.

My top canvas was inspired by something I saw in Cloth, Paper, Scissors.  It’s a work in progress as I want to paint my hot glue, etc.

Sunflowers and Dragonflies canvas 1

Here, I used wall spackle to give me texture and painted it with paint once it was dry.  I then took sponge stamps and bubble wrap and stamped onto my canvas.

Do you do mixed media?

Finished my first page in my owl colouring book.  This page took approximately 10 to 11 hours to do with Prismacolor pencil crayons and odorless mineral spirits.

How to Decorate a Christmas Candle

Hello fellow stampers.  Today I am here with a fun Christmas project for you.  Decorating candles with Technique Junkie stamps and embellishments are a fun way to give out as gifts.  I used Ornament 1 and a variety of embellishments.  I hope my tutorial will inspire you to decorating a candle too.

Supplies:  variety of coloured ink pads, white tissue paper, wax paper, stamp(s), ribbon, flowers, heat gun, candle and embellishments

Measure your tissue paper by rolling tissue paper around candle and cut where the two ends meet.  Stamp your image(s) in your desired pattern.

Wrap your tissue paper around your candle.

Measure your wax paper in the same manner as you measured your tissue paper and tightly wrap the wax paper in place, holding the edges closed.

Using your heat gun, melt the wax paper in place.  Do not hold the gun in one place too long or the candle will melt.

Add ribbon on the top and bottom of the candle to hide the edges of the wax paper.  Continue to embellish your candle as desired.

Tea Bag Holder for Christmas

Vera's Tea Bag Holder

I taught my girlfriend to make a teabag holder (my tutorial can be seen here).  Since Vera isn’t a stamper, she decided to add Christmas broaches to the front of the tea bag holder.  Isn’t it cute?
