Technique Junkies WWDB Challenge – Get Well

Hello stampers!  Here we are at week 2 of What We Do Best (WWDB) challenge.  This week’s challenge is to make a Get Well card, and a coordinating envelope, using Technique Junkies stamps.  Play along!  We are giving away a $50 gift card to Technique Junkies.  We sell more than just stamps, so get creative!

Today’s card uses Flourished Floral, Dancing Dandelions and Grand Greetings.  If you follow me, I think you would agree that Flourished Floral is my most-used TJ stamp.

Card Details

The darkest cardstock was cut in half horizontally and one piece was embossed in a light purple and one piece embossed in a dark purple, using Dancing Dandelions.

A ribbon was wrapped around the card to hide the merging of the two pieces of cardstock.  Flourished Floral was coloured with Copic markers.  Grand Greetings comes in a set of f stamps, and using just the words “Get Well” from one of the sentiments, I stamped the words out in the same colour as my embossed background.

Tips

  • Having five purple and pink embossing powders, I wanted to test how the colours looked on my dark cardstock.  The colour of the powder is not reflective of how it heat embosses when used on coloured cardstock.  Stamping out my Dancing Dandelions background, I created a test piece.  In doing so, I placed my embossing powders in a row and sprinkled a little bit of each powder over the Versamark in a horizontal fashion.  When heat embossed, a variety of pretty colours appear.  I chose the colours that would coordinate with my project.
  • When using Copic markers, or other markers, on my envelope, I place a scrap piece of cardstock on the inside of the envelope to stop it from bleeding onto the back of the envelope.

Supplies

SU Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Melon Mambo, Pink Piroutte

Ribbon:  Michael’s Craftsmart

Stamps:  Technique Junkies – Flourished Floral, Dancy Dandelions and Grand Greetings.

Technique Junkies What We Do Best (WWDB) Challenge, Week one of Four

Hello!  Technique Junkies has a wonderful four-week challenge going on called What We Do Best (WWDB).  This week’s theme is to create a card and matching envelope thanking your front line workers–a nurse, doctor, police officer, first responder, mailman, store clerk, or other essential worker.  You can read the full details here.  Remember, your card has to use Technique Junkies stamp(s) in order to qualify for a cash prize.

My thank you card is just one of several I have made recently, on behalf of my hospital department co-workers, to thank the restaurants and grocery stores for their support of the front line workers.  We have received meals, fruit baskets, muffins, etc.  The one thank you that made me cry, was the day the first responders–ambulance, police and firemen, had their sirens and lights going off while encircling the hospital where I work.  Seeing them from my window, the nature of the COVID pandemic hit me, and hit me hard.

Once again, please read the rules to this four week challenge.  This challenge has a special place in our hearts.

As always, you can use discount code TJ10Beth to receive 10% off of your order.

Good luck!

Stamps:  Flower Doodles S781 and Greetings Set SS010

Technique Junkies April New Release

Here we are at April 1st already.  We had a beautiful winter and now it’s time to enjoy the spring weather which brings us to April’s Release Celebration.  The design team made up some yummy things for you.  Listed below are links to everyone’s cards.

As always, new release stamps are 15% off and with my code TJ10Beth, your savings goes up to 25% off.

Here I used Precise Posy and Anything is Possible.  I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s video tutorial on how to create this card.  The following is what I did to create this card.

Instructions

  • Using Yupo paper spread some rubbing alcohol over your background
  • Drip Alcohol Inks on top of the Yupo paper, as well as Blending Solution, and blow with a straw.  Repeat until your Yupo paper is covered.
  • Let dry completely, or dry with you heat gun
  • Once dry, generously rub your embossing buddy all over your Yupo paper
  • With your VersaMark pad stamp out your image and press firmly onto Yupo paper.  If you are using a Misti, then repeat by inking up your stamp with VersaMark and stamping out your image for a second time
  • Heat emboss with clear embossing powder
  • Lay your Yupo paper onto the die cut machine.
  • With a spray mist bottle filled with rubbing alcohol, generously spray your embossed image.
  • Lay a piece of cardstock over the Yupo paper and run through your die cut/embossing machine.
  • Pull the cardstock off the Yupo paper and once dry, cut down to size.
  • Surround your Yupo paper with one or two pieces of cardstock.
  • Embellish as you would like.  Here I used Anything is Possible, a new April release

This cute little doggy was made up using Tail in the Air.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by.

Life is Better in the Country

Many people I know live by this mantra of “Life is Better in the Country.”  Me, I’m a city gal.

This stamp, Better in the Country, can be purchased at 10% off by using the code TJ10Beth. In addition, your cart will be 10% off (excludes clearance items).

Although I have hoards of designer paper, I love to create my own backgrounds.  I did so using Plaid and Little Checkerboard.  For the plaid, I inked up my stamp with dark green and stamped it onto white cardstock.  For my little checkerboard, I inked up my stamp in black and stamped onto red cardstock.  Twine and little banners were added.

TOMORROW is a NEW RELEASE and you won’t want to miss it!  So don’t forget that I will have a post up tomorrow showcasing the new release!

Shaking things up with Fairies

Ewww, I love, love, love this new release called Fairy Garden, set of 10.  It’s the bomb!  I see myself using this set a lot.  Fairy Garden comes with 10 stamps.

I created a shaker card with a sentiment from Fairy Garden, set of 10 on the inside.  It’s surrounded by little die cut flowers that were sponged with ink using blending brushes, adding pink to the yellow flowers.  This cute little fairy, from Fairy Garden, set of 10 was coloured with Copic markers.  Stickles have been added to add a glow of magic fairy dust.

I can’t say enough how I love these blending brushes and regret not buying them sooner.  Sponge work has always been a favourite thing of mine, but looking back, the work is not flawless with sponges.

Did you know that we sell blending brushes?  They are the best price that I have seen so far, and to further cut down on your cost, you can use TJ10Beth to receive 10% off on your brushes, or any other product.

I find myself drawn, more and more, to “cutesy” stamps.

Get creative!

Live Magically

How to “live magically.”  In a garden, build a house, and watch the fairies fly about.

This magical set from Technique Junkies is full of fun and creativity.  “Fairy Garden” has ten magical stamps that can be used in a variety of ways.

Here I stenciled my background with pastel colours using A Colorful Life Designs stencils.  Next, I stamped my image over top of the stencil background and coloured with Prismacolor coloured pencils.  The small fairy was stamped and cut out with a small circular punch and glittered with Stickles.  My image was too wide so I had it go on a sideways direction.  Tiny little stars were stamped around the image and a paper daisy was placed on top.

Why I love blending brushes and reminder of new release

Blending brushes are da bomb!

  • No more sponges that leave distinct lines between colours
  • No more “spotting” of colour
  • Comes with 10 sizes, all of which I have used
  • Ergonomic handles
  • Soft bristles allow beautiful blending between colours
  • Washes nice with just running your brush under the flow of water
  • Price.  Price. Price.    Use my code TJ10Beth for 10% off the cost of these brushes
  • If you are thinking of purchasing brushes, act fast because this product is marked “Available for a limited time only.”
  • Get creative!

Did you miss the big new release for March?  The link to the reveal can be found here.

Don’t forget, you can use my code to receive an extra 10% off the new releases.  That, along with the 15% off, will give you 25% off the new releases.  My code will also allow you to receive 10% off other products as well.

Get creative!
