Chicken Anyone?

Hello you!  Thanks for stopping by.  Here in Ontario we are still under a province-wide STAY AT HOME order.   In case you’re interested here is a link of what we can and cannot do.  That said, I have much more time for stamping, blogging and design team work, all while going to work every day (I work full time at the local hospital).   The weather is nice so I’m able to sit outside to read and to go walk at a local park either by myself or with my husband.

Farm Fresh is a new Technique Junkies release this month, and is easily used for so many cards.  Here I used Keep Chickens which I coloured in rich and bold colours.  My examples include a full sized slimline card and an A2 card.  I kept it simple, which I find very hard to do.

I hope you have a great week ahead of you.  This upcoming Saturday is another new release for Technique Junkies.  Don’t forget to visit my blog, and my fellow DT members for lots of inspiration. I will have a video ready to go live on May 1st.

In the Garden

Ahh, the smell of spring in the air.  Love it.  Today’s card showcases Technique Junkies Grunge Flowers and In the Garden stamps. I can’t get enough of making handmade flowers, and added three of them, along with the handmade leaves, to my card.  Take 10% off your order with my code below.

  1.  Heat emboss Grunge Flowers with clear embossing powder and heat set.
  2. Spray background with Shimmering Bliss.  I used Thulian Pink.  Let air dry (or to speed things up you can use a heat gun).
  3. Stamp out a sentiment from In the Garden.
  4. Embellish and matt your card front.  Here I used my handmade flowers.

Grow With Love

Hello friends!  Do you see buds popping out where you live?  We are starting to see the signs of spring.  Currently in an apartment, I used to spend countless hours in the gardens and there was a lot of love from me because my gardens were always in bloom.  I had a tiger lilly and shasta daisy garden along the side of my house.  In the front there was a blue/purple/white garden, wildflower garden, and a red/gold garden.  Do you have gardens?  If you do, what is your favourite part of it?

Today’s card is perfect for spring.  Fresh green and pink colours were used to create my 3-D card.  The background paper is not designer paper.  It is a background stamp called Garden Party, which was coloured with pencil crayons.  Grow with Love focal point was placed into my Misti (what tool do you use?) and each word on my stamp was watercoloured with watercolour markers.  I huffed on the colour to reactivate the colour, and pressed down, repeating the process two or three times more.

Added to this card is one of my handmade flowers and leaves.

Have a great week, and stay safe.

Technique Junkies New Release and Sale

Hello friends.  Do you like new stamps?  Do you like new releases?  Well, this is the time because April release is now live and boy are you in for a treat!  No April’s fools.  You might want to start at the beginning at Technique Junkies.

For those of you who are new, new release day means that you can purchase the newly released stamps at 15% off automatically until April 8th. If you use code TJ10Beth you get an additional 10% off everything else in your cart.   My code TJ10Beth is good throughout the rest of the month.  For more inspiration please visit the TJ Design Team’s blogs which are listed below with a direct link.

My first card is 3D and uses Where Flowers Bloom.  I placed this stamp into my Misty, and used watercolour markers (ie. Tombow, SU), and coloured one word at a time, huffing every time before pressing down the ink.  I love these types of stamps, just for using this method.

My second card uses Grow With Love.  Using a stencil, I lightly blended a variety of colours, then I took my coordinating marker and outlined areas on my stencil.  You can see my How To Add Depth to Your Stencils video just with a click of a button on the title of the YouTube video.

Before you scroll down for more inspiration from the Design Team let me tell you about the I Got To Have it All bundle.  Save $26.45 for the entire new April Release.  You can buy it here.

Better With Wine

Hello friends!  I hope you like getting inky because today’s card is all about ink blending.  Using Rich Razzelberry and distress oxide festive berries, I blended the two colours so that there would be spots of dark and light.  After it dried completely, I embossed Dotted Blooms in white and Better with Wine.

Distress oxides in tumbled glass and peacock feathers were used to create my background.  Curved dies were used to cut the upper and lower edging.

How are you enjoying spring?  It came so early this year.  Normally Sarnia is in snow, and it isn’t unheard of having a snow storm at this time of year, but this year it is 18 degrees C today.  What a beautiful day for a walk.  It feels so good to be out of a winter coat.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day and get creative.

Happy Easter

Can you believe Easter is right around the corner?  Do you have your cards made yet?  There is still time.  Happy Easter Bunny makes for a quick card.  I heat embossed over pink cardstock, cut out the bunny and mounted onto a stenciled background.  I even added trees using a die I had on hand.  But this would be just as pretty to place over any background you may have kicking around, including a stenciled background.  Because the sentiment is already on the bunny, I added silhouette butterflies to the mix.

Use code TJ10Beth for 10% discount on your shopping cart.

Stayed tuned for a new video coming up this month.  For a listing of my videos please visit My YouTube Videos along the top of the blog.

Life is Beautiful

Hello friends!  How did you like the March release at Technique Junkies yesterday?  If you missed it, you can see the new release here on this post.  As a reminder, new releases are on sale through to March 8th.  15% will automatically come off your shopping cart for each new release you purchase.  Use code TJ10Beth for an additional 10% off your new releases for a total of 25% off.  In addition, the code will take 10% off on the remainder of your shopping cart.  It just doesn’t get better than this.  Use code TJ10Beth for the remainder of the month for 10% off your shopping cart.

Have you ever made a bunch of Color Burst backgrounds and the outcome is just so perfect?  It didn’t take me long to pick out this background because it reminded me of the Northern Lights.  Pairing it with a the Floral Moose seemed to be the right thing to do.  My sentiment Life is Beautiful is an older stamp.  Is it okay to say I’m very pleased with how my card turned out?

Floral Moose was heat embossed on a fully dried Color Burst background.  That’s all I had to do.  You’ll be surprised at how quick your card will come together.   Maybe you have some other backgrounds kicking around that could be used.  This would even make a wonderful masculine card too.

Did you know I made some YouTube Videos?  You can find the index of tutorials listed along the top of my blog.  A new tutorial using Floral Moose will be posted towards the end of the month so stay tuned.

New Release and Sale at Technique Junkies

Hello fellow stampers!   Are you ready for our new release and sale?  This stunning release is 15% off and is automatically applied to your cart when you shop until March 8th.  If you use my code TJ10Beth, you will automatically receive a 25% discount on the new release.  And by using my code, the remainder of your cart will be 10% off.  Wow!

Our team has so many things to show you, so please scroll to the bottom of my post to see the links to all the Design Team members, and Pat Huntoon herself.

My first card is an Open Book Easel Card.  A tutorial  is composed by my friend Tina Zinck.  To view her YouTube video please visit Open Book Easel Card. This card is the perfect size for Every Bird.  I carefully separated the sentiment and bird, and ended up with two stamps instead of one, and carefully stamped each side of my page.  My handmade flowers and leaves were added for dimension.

It stands as an easel, and looks just a pretty when laid down.

My next card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest.  It is so quick and so pretty that I thought it would make a nice birthday card.  Increasing in Value is a lovely sentiment for the outside of the card, as well as the inside.  Once again, I embellished with my handmade flowers.

Once again, I embellished with my handmade flowers and leaves.
