Technique Junkies New Release and a Video

Hello fellow stampers!  I love new releases because it’s so fun working with new stamps; it gets my creative mind thinking “what can I do different.”  For this month’s release I produced a video on using Color Bursts to create a beautiful sky to go with a new release and an older stamp.  I think it is a favourite video of mine because it shows a technique that one can get messy in.  Isn’t that what arts all about?

For new visitors, newly released stamps are 15% off automatically until November 8th.  For 10% off the remainder of your items (except already reduced stamps) use code TJ10Beth.

It’s Almost Halloween

Hi folks!  A little known fact about me.  I once had a small on-line scrapbooking/stamping store called Sunflowers and Dragonflies Creative Designs.  After a year, I closed shop because selling just wasn’t for me.  I’d much rather be behind the scenes making cards and creating art.  While I had my store, I had two ladies design my rubber stamps, and this cute little witch was one of the stamps.  She’s so cute, eh?

Have a good Halloween and enjoy any trick or treaters that dare venture out!

Vintage Ornaments

Hello there friends!  Are you almost finished your Christmas card-making or just getting started?  I love the versatility of the Technique Junkies Vintage Ornaments stamp because there are many ways to use this stamp, whether it be quick and simple or a little more intricate.

I’m getting so excited about Christmas.  I feel like a young kid all over again when I see all the festive lights, Christmas trees, and decorations.  How about you? I love watching all the Hallmark movies I can, and even looked closely to see how their houses are decorated.  Last year Al put greenery along the top of both kitchen cupboards, and I gently laid 60 round coloured Christmas tree ornaments, all different sizes, in orange, purple, lime green, pink, bright blue.

This year I want to concentrate on the outside, and already bought outdoor lights.  Al got into the spirit and put them up around the patio door and window of our apartment already.  The rest of the decorations will go up on Nov 13, when the Christmas tree goes up.

Enjoy your week, and happy stamping!

Have a Groovy Christmas and Blog Candy

What a fun card for you today!  I combined the newly released Mid-Century Sparkle Background with the sentiment from Groovy Christmas.  Instructions for making this card are below.  I recently made a YouTube video on creating a background (as seen with the sentiment above).  To view my video please visit my Color Bursts video.

We’re only two months away from Christmas Eve, and my envelopes for all of my 50+ Christmas cards are decorated and addressed.  I get too stressed with this part of Christmas cards, that this year I decided to do it sooner, at a leisurely pace.  Usually I’m frantic, keeping my envelopes undecorated and the address just gets slapped on.  What camp are you in?  Is addressing envelopes a stresser for you or not.  Let me know.  I will pick out a random winner to win this card and five pre-made Color Burst backgrounds as seen behind the Have a Groovy Christmas.

Use my code TJ10Beth for a 10% discount on your purchase to Technique Junkies.

Directions for making my Groovy Christmas card

  • Cut cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4″ and mat as desired
  • Place your Mid-Century Sparkle Background into your Misti
  • Using retro-feeling colours of watercolour markers, colour your background–one image at a time.  Once you colour an image stamp it out onto your cardstock.  Repeat if you want a darker image
  • Continue the above step until your background is completely covered
  • Using a Color Burst background (or other groovy background paper) rub embossing buddy over the background where you will heat emboss
  • Stamp out your sentiment with VersaMark
  • Sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat set
  • Mat sentiment
  • Using pop dots, adhere to your sentiment and centre it onto your Mid-Centruy Sparkle Background

Poinsettia Wreath Wishes

Hello fellow stampers.  Have you started making your Christmas cards? I’m about done, but there’s always room for making more. I’m sure you are busy in the U.S. thinking about Thanksgiving preparations. Here, in Canada, we celebrated our Thanksgiving. It is a special time of year for me because my daughter was born on Thanksgiving Day. Her birthday doesn’t always fall on Thanksgiving Day because our Thanksgiving Day fluctuates.

Put aside your Thanksgiving plans for now, let’s focus on Christmas for a moment.  Using Poinsettia Wreath Wishes, set of 7, I created numerous cards and am showing three of my cards here.

Steps to Making the Wreath

  • Using brown ink stamp your wreath onto a lightly coloured wood paper or a light coloured cardstock of your choice
  • Choose your sentiment and line it up on your stamped out wreath.
  • Using an embossing buddy run over the area made for a sentiment
  • Emboss using gold embossing powder
  • Stamp out a second image on white cardstock if you are only making one or two cards.  If you make more, take the stamp off your block or Misti and ink up just the area of the poinsettia and hand press onto white cardstock.  Repeat as necessary
  • Using a circular die, cut out your wreath
  • Colour your hand-stamped poinsettia and cut along the edges so you are left with just a poinsettia
  • Adhere coloured and cut poinsettia over top of the originally stamped image.  I adhered my coloured poinsettia with a pop dot
  • Add pearls to the centre of the flower, and greenery around the flower too
  • Embellish your card as desired

Retro Reindeer

Hi folks!  I hope your week is off to a great start!  Mine is.  I’m still pumped from my recent visit to my daughter in Ottawa.  I love the city of Ottawa and envy Sarah and her family.  As the Nation’s capital, it is full of awesome museums.  It also has beautiful parks and what a sight to see at this time of year with the changing tree colours.  Plus it has two of my beautiful granddaughters.

Use the above code for 10% off your Technique Junkies purchase

In my card above I used Out of the Box technique (the first time I used this technique).  I used Technique Junkies Retro Reindeer stamp and coloured it with Stamping Blend markers.  The antlers were filled in with a silver sparkle pen.

Have you seen the Gotta Have it All Bundle?  Who can resist this month’s release.  You can purchase it at a special savings listed below.

Merry & Bright

Hi there folks!  There is still time to get the newly released Technique Junkies October stamps at 25% off.  Use my code TJ10Beth and get 10% off everything else!

I was born in the 60’s.  Is that why I love retro so much?  This fun ornament stamp is called Retro Ornaments Background.  Merry & Bright came from Victorian Greetings, set of 6.

Steps to Making Card

  • Cut turquoise card to size 4″ x 5 1/4″ and copper mat at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
  • Take a dark colour of ink, such as a deeper turquoise and blend edges, leaving the centre light (original colour of cardstock).  Let dry completely before the next step.
  • Rub embossing buddy generously over the entire cardstock.
  • Heat emboss using gold embossing powder
  • Add a banner with sentiment using the same colour as the mat.  Here it is a copper.
  • Whalaa.  You’re done!

Fifth Avenue Floral

Hello stampers!  I’ve been going through photos that I haven’t posted before and I found this cute card I made once upon a time.  I never tire of Stampn’ Ups! Fifth Avenue Floral.  I made 25 of these for an order I had done and I was waiting until the event was done before I posted it.  The flower was watercoloured using ink refills.  The blended ink background was stamped over top with an Impression Obsession large background stamp.

Have a super weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Creepy Halloween

Hello there Halloween lovers.  This is one creepy stamp and great for one who is enthralled with Halloween.  Scary Skull is quick to use and perfect for mass production.  You can use my code TJ10Beth for my 10% discount.

Hope you’re having a great week.  I’m preparing for our trip to Ottawa to visit my daughter and  her family.  I’m busy making my daughter a birthday card and coordinating tag.  The first set I made, I went to use it and discovered it didn’t coordinate at all with the wrapping paper so I’m back to my room for a do-over.  My world has to be matchy-matchy. Just ask my friends and family.

In three short days Technique Junkies will have their October release and with that comes another tutorial by me.  It was some video.  Al and I spent 7 hours editing, cutting 13 minutes off the time.  I’m still learning a lot about making YouTube videos, and I still can’t stop feeling like I’m in front of an entire stadium of people.

I’ll be back on Thursday, and I hope you will be too.  Cheers!
