Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to me!  My birthday was in August, but I’m just posting this now.  Thanks to my mom, and other birthday money, I took a deep plunge and ordered Lavinia stamps.  I have been wanting these for ages as I lost my Stampscapes stamps between two moves.  Lavinia stamps come from overseas, and when I googled for a Canadian distributer, I found Ectasy Crafts.

Let me tell you, Ectasy Crafts totally blew me away with their customer service.  I ordered my stamps at 10 p.m., on a Tuesday, and the order was filled and shipped by Wednesday.  On Friday the box of stamps was received.

These stamps were larger than I thought they would be (I didn’t read the sizing details).  When I used my Lavinia stamps my cards will be 6 x 6.  Envelopes will be purchased at Crystal Clear Bags Canada.  Their prices cannot be beat.  And lucky for me, their head office is in the same city where my husband works so he can pick them up for me.

Do you have any Lavinia stamps?

Stencil Shading

Hello fellow stampers!

Have you ever wondered how to add more depth to your stenciled project?  Today, I am going to show you how to add shadows to help with that 3-D effect.  The stencil I used today is from A Colorful Life Designs.  The one I am using in this tutorial is called Adored Frame and can be purchased at A Colorful Life Designs.

Did you know that Technique Junkies sells A Colorful Life Stencils too?  You can use my discount code of TJ10Beth to receive 10% off your stencils, or any other product that is in the store.  This discount does not apply to clearance items.  For a full line of A Colorful Life Stencils at Technique Junkies please view here.

Tape your stencil down onto a firm background.  Be sure to use painter’s tape and tape along the inside edges of your cardstock.  Pixie spray works wonderfully too and can be purchased at Technique Junkies.  Yes, my code TJ10Beth is good for a 10% discount too.  By using Pixie spray, you do not have to use tape.

Using a finger dauber, or sponge, rub your ink-stained sponge over the area of your stencil.  Any stencil can be used.

Surprise!  You will be using a Q-tip for this step.  Using your Q-tip, rub it into a darker shade of ink than what was placed onto your cardstock.  Place the darker ink on the lower portion of the stem, swirl, star, etc.  Be sure to add the darker shade of colour in a “flicking” motion so your colour blends nicely.  If the area is elongated, such as the swirls in my stencil, add some darker colour in the top third of your design.

If there are small areas in your stencil, too small for sponging, feel free to use a pointed marker to fill in those areas as see above.

And, lastly, stamp a sentiment on your stenciled background.  Here I used Technique Junkies Love You More, set of 5.

I hope I inspired you to try adding some depth to your stencils.

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by!

Stampn’ Up! Saturday – Tags

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Well, in my house anyways.  Christmas shopping is done and now I’ve moved onto making my tags.  Believe it or not I spent 8 solid hours making my layered tags, using Stampn Ups Tags and Tidings stamp and die set.  As you can imagine, I was plum worn out after 8 straight hours and spent the rest of the day outside of my studio.

This is the first year I actually made my own tags, and completing 50 will do me for a couple of years.

Do you make your own tags?

Technique Junkies October New Release and Discount

Hello folks!  It’s the first of the month and Technique Junkies love to celebrate with a new release and big savingsToday, until October 8th you can receive newly released stamps at 15% off that automatically comes off your shopping cart, AND if you use the code TJ10Beth, an additional 10% is taken off which equals 25% off newly released stamps and 10% off any other product in your shopping card, excluding clearance items.  The full October Release can be see here.

My Merry Christmas card uses Poinsettia, set of 4; and Victorian Greetings, set of 6.  I die cut the background, adhered designer paper and added my sentiment and poinsettia which I coloured with Prismacolor coloured pencils.  I coloured two poinsettias and layered them with pop dots.  Pearls were added to the sentiment and the flower.

I love plaid, and was so excited to pair up this darling moose with it.  Chris Moose was stamped out and coloured with Prismacolor coloured pencil.  Next, I added Crystal Stickles to the white part of the hat, and the Christmas bulbs handing on the antlers.  Using Poinsettia, set of 4, I added the small poinsettia to the bottom, using pop dots to give it a 3-D feel.  As well, I punched out green leaves and die cut a heart shape using gold cardstock and used pop dots on the star.  Brads were added to each corner of the wood grain designer paper.

You can see the full release of stamps for the October New Release here.

Have I inspired you to start thinking about making your Christmas cards?  Dare I tell you all my Christmas shopping is done, except for one present?  I love the Christmas holiday season.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins everywhere

Hello stampers!  Fall is in the air and why not make a tribute to the season with an autumn card.  I love pumpkins and in a pie is even better.

Today I have used Pumpkin and Life is Beautiful.  Unfortunately the sentiment does not show up well in this photo, but in real life it looks terrific.

You can purchase these stamps, or any other product that is not on the clearance rack, at 10% off simply by using the code TJ10Beth.  Who doesn’t like to save money?

What is your favourite part of autumn?  For me it is the cozy sweaters and walking in the park surrounded by trees in full colour.

Thanks for stopping by!

Winter Wonderland

Hello fellow stampers!  I’m in the Christmas spirit (yes, it is early and yes, my Christmas shopping is done) so I thought I’d make an elegant Christmas card for you today.  I will be teaching my co-workers how to make this Christmas card.  I have yet to cone up with a second idea, but I think I might know what is up my sleeve.

My images are by Technique Junkies and are called Flourished Christmas Tree and Joyeux Noel.

I heat embossed white over my Flourished Christmas Tree.  Next, I stamped out Joyeux Noel with bronze Brilliance ink.  My snowflakes were punched out and the base was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  Gold edging was added to my card.

All Technique Junkies stamps and products are 10% off with my code TJ10Beth.

Thanks for stopping by.

Paper:  White and Pool Party (SU); gold paper comes from Paper-Garden.ca (link is on the bottom of my right hand bar.

Inks:  Bronze Brilliance

Snowflakes:  Punch

Tree Rings in the Woodlands

Good morning fellow stampers!  Today I’m posting a newly released Tree Rings from Technique Junkies.  I thought the Tree Rings lent itself to using some woodland dies, and by using Happy Birthday 3, I turned it into a birthday card.  One cannot have enough masculine cards.  Right?!

You can get 10% off Tree Rings and Happy Birthday 3, and any other item that isn’t in the clearance rack, at 10% off simply by using my discount code TJ10Beth.  Now who doesn’t love a discount?!

I stamped Tree Rings with brown Momento onto Kraft cardstock and matted it with So Saffron.  Brown Momento was stamped on So Saffron and cut out using a scallop punch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Technique Junkies New Release and Discount

Hello fellow stampers.  It’s the first of the month and that means a new release and discount from Technique Junkies.  This stellar release is a knock out!  Until September 8th, you can purchase newly released stamps at 15% off which comes off automatically in your cart.  And by using TJ10Beth code you earn an additional 10% off the newly released stamps.  Anything (except clearance items) are always 10% off when you use my code.

My first card uses Autumn Framed Sentiments, set of 5.  Let me tell you–these stamps and coordinating sentiments are huge.  The leaves are 5″ wide and the sentiments are 4 3/4″ wide.

For my first card I stamped out my image on Kraft cardstock, coloured the leaves white and then added colour over top.

This was a super fun card to make.  I coloured the Pumpkin with a variety of orange and yellow Prismacolor coloured pencil.  In the background I stamped out Houndstooth Check background (not a new release) in Momento Rich Cocoa.  Using the Momento Rich Cocoa, I stamped my Leaves Turn sentiment onto gold cardstock.

I will have more cards to share from the new release coming up.  This is a favourite release and I hope you think so too!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by.

Love and Laughter Floral

Hello stampers!  Today’s cards use one stamp called Love and Laughter Floral from Technique Junkies.  As you may know, I do like to make several cards using one stamp, using a different technique, or different colours.  Because I like bright colours I used Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight.  For the card on my left I heat embossed with dark chocolate and my stencil stamp came from A Colourful Life Designs stencil called Garden Gate.

Our new release will be upon us in less than a week, and I’m so excited about this release, so please remember to come back on September 1st for a peak at the new release and big discount on new releases.

As always, if you are so inclined, please use code TJ10Beth to get 10% off you entire purchase (excludes clearance items).

Cheers!
