Technique Junkies WWDB Challenge – Get Well

Hello stampers!  Here we are at week 2 of What We Do Best (WWDB) challenge.  This week’s challenge is to make a Get Well card, and a coordinating envelope, using Technique Junkies stamps.  Play along!  We are giving away a $50 gift card to Technique Junkies.  We sell more than just stamps, so get creative!

Today’s card uses Flourished Floral, Dancing Dandelions and Grand Greetings.  If you follow me, I think you would agree that Flourished Floral is my most-used TJ stamp.

Card Details

The darkest cardstock was cut in half horizontally and one piece was embossed in a light purple and one piece embossed in a dark purple, using Dancing Dandelions.

A ribbon was wrapped around the card to hide the merging of the two pieces of cardstock.  Flourished Floral was coloured with Copic markers.  Grand Greetings comes in a set of f stamps, and using just the words “Get Well” from one of the sentiments, I stamped the words out in the same colour as my embossed background.

  • Having five purple and pink embossing powders, I wanted to test how the colours looked on my dark cardstock.  The colour of the powder is not reflective of how it heat embosses when used on coloured cardstock.  Stamping out my Dancing Dandelions background, I created a test piece.  In doing so, I placed my embossing powders in a row and sprinkled a little bit of each powder over the Versamark in a horizontal fashion.  When heat embossed, a variety of pretty colours appear.  I chose the colours that would coordinate with my project.
  • When using Copic markers, or other markers, on my envelope, I place a scrap piece of cardstock on the inside of the envelope to stop it from bleeding onto the back of the envelope.

SU Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Melon Mambo, Pink Piroutte

Ribbon:  Michael’s Craftsmart

Stamps:  Technique Junkies – Flourished Floral, Dancy Dandelions and Grand Greetings.

Stampn’ Up! Saturday – Happy Birthday

Howdy folks!

This is one of my favourite cards that I made at a Stampn’ Up! card class, using Peaceful Moments bundle.  The designer paper is laid in a totally unique direction–cut into strips and layered in a random, and crooked, direction.

  • Cardstock:  Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive
  • Designer Papers:  Peaceful Poppies and Golden Honey Specialty DP

Have a terrific weekend!

Technique Junkies What We Do Best (WWDB) Challenge, Week one of Four

Hello!  Technique Junkies has a wonderful four-week challenge going on called What We Do Best (WWDB).  This week’s theme is to create a card and matching envelope thanking your front line workers–a nurse, doctor, police officer, first responder, mailman, store clerk, or other essential worker.  You can read the full details here.  Remember, your card has to use Technique Junkies stamp(s) in order to qualify for a cash prize.

My thank you card is just one of several I have made recently, on behalf of my hospital department co-workers, to thank the restaurants and grocery stores for their support of the front line workers.  We have received meals, fruit baskets, muffins, etc.  The one thank you that made me cry, was the day the first responders–ambulance, police and firemen, had their sirens and lights going off while encircling the hospital where I work.  Seeing them from my window, the nature of the COVID pandemic hit me, and hit me hard.

Once again, please read the rules to this four week challenge.  This challenge has a special place in our hearts.

As always, you can use discount code TJ10Beth to receive 10% off of your order.

Good luck!

Stamps:  Flower Doodles S781 and Greetings Set SS010

Stampn’ Up! Saturday – Honey Bee

As a lover of Stampn’ Up! I attend a monthly card class, locally, with Mary Beth Phillips.  Recently, we made this adorable card using Honey Bee stamp and die set.  I just couldn’t resist this set once I used it, so it is now part of my permanent collection.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Dueling Darlings April Kit – Bluebonnets

It’s the 15th of the month and that means the Dazzlers and Divas are dueling again.  This month Debby (Dazzlers) and Suzy (Divas) are the hosts this month.  It’s spring in Texas and that means the bluebonnets are blooming–the highways are lined in blue and soon all the other wild flowers will be blooming too.  Good choice ladies, because nothing is blooming in southern Ontario yet.

Parts of my kit that I used includes the following:

Stamps:  Deadbeat Designs

Ink:  Color Box Pigment ink in Royal Blue

Designer Paper:  Paper Studio

Ribbon:  Offray-off white

Blue Gems:  Parklane

Let’s see what the rest of the Dueling Darlings have for us:

Butterfly Collage

Hello fellow stampers!

I’m loving this stamp called Butterfly Collage with Text.  When I saw this stamp I wanted a distressed look and wouldn’t you know that Jennifer McGuire came out with a video that fit the bill.

My sentiment is called Always be There.

  • Using Yupo paper spread some rubbing alcohol over your background
  • Drip Alcohol Inks on top of the Yupo paper, as well as Blending Solution, and blow with a straw.  Repeat until your Yupo paper is covered.
  • Let dry completely, or dry with you heat gun
  • Once dry, generously rub your embossing buddy all over your Yupo paper
  • With your VersaMark pad stamp out your image and press firmly onto Yupo paper.  If you are using a Misti, then repeat by inking up your stamp with VersaMark and stamping out your image for a second time
  • Heat emboss with clear embossing powder
  • Lay your Yupo paper onto the die cut machine.
  • With a spray mist bottle filled with rubbing alcohol, generously spray your embossed image.
  • Lay a piece of cardstock over the Yupo paper and run through your die cut/embossing machine.
  • Pull the cardstock off the Yupo paper and once dry, cut down to size.
  • Surround your Yupo paper with one or two pieces of cardstock.
  • Embellish as you would like.  Here I used Anything is Possible, a new April release

CASE’n Myself

This year I am focusing on making cards that I am in need of:  sympathy, masculine, thank you and thinking of you.  Most of my cards seem to be birthday.

I have old Stampn’ Up! stamps on wood blocks that I just can’t part with.  Thoughts and Prayers is just one of those sets.

Here I mounted my sentiment on Melon Mambo and Flirty Flamingo and matted the card with Blackberry Bliss.  Funny story about this colour.  I thoroughly love this colour and ordered six packs when it was set to “retire” from the in-colours.  Well, wasn’t I surprised when it came out as a permanent colour in the next catalogue.

Using Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, and Old Olive, I coloured my stamp and “huffed” on it to add moisture so I could stamp it out with good results.

It isn’t unusual for me to make 8 cards at one time when I’m working on a design.  The hard work is coming up with a design and since I’m pulling out all the colours I need, it only makes sense to make multiples.

I decided to CASE an old card, from many years ago, that I see time and time again on Pinterest.  It’s wildly popular–LOL.  It just seems “old” to me.  Here is the card that I CASE’d.

Back in the day, most of my cards were 5″ x 5″, or larger, but since I’m sending out a large number of cards, I scale everything down to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ inches (A2).

I’d love to see you do a CASE using one of your older cards.  If you do, please leave me a message with your link, and I’d be happy to leave a comment.

Get Creative!
